fairfarmhand Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 My dd was sick this week and we stayed home a lot so I decided to redo my bedroom. Not quite a full redecoration but I like the Change. previously, it was a sort of robins egg blue. I changed to a pale gray blue that’s so light I was worried at first that I was painting my room white. I researched light reflective values for paint and went with something that’s like 77%. We hang Thermal curtains on the windows in the winter and the dark starts to get to me after awhile. So I wanted something brighter. the painting was hung elsewhere, and my dh moved it since I had to take the wall sticker quote off the wall that was over the bed. Overall, I’m very happy with it, though I still need to paint the door trim and the ceiling. The first photo is from before, the last 2 are from afterwards. 25 Quote
Guest Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 So pretty! Also, I love a four poster. My bed is straight outta the 90s, with all the oak veneer and faux brass inlays suggested by that. 🙄 1 Quote

I know heavy dark wood furniture is probably out of style but I don't care, My grandmother had a rice bed when I was a kid and I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever and promised myself that when I grew up I would get one. So when we were picking out the furniture for our first home, that's what I went with and I still love it. Forget the styles! 2 Quote
Corraleno Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Lovely! It looks very calm and restful but also lighter and brighter than the previous color. I really like how the painting pulls together the colors in the wall and the carpet. 1 Quote

It’s funny because I have thought about getting a different bed a few times due to it being so dated. But! My bed has huge cabinets on the sides and I need those for my books and notebooks! whenever I have looked at regular nightstands I am always like, “But there’s no storage! Where do people put their books?” 😄 Quote

They're lovely and so functional. I still kept the other four bookcases in the house though. (Now that I think of it, we have a total of 8 bookcase in our house in various places.) 1 Quote

I love a storage bed. One of my girls has a twin storage bed with four large drawers underneath and a bookcase headboard. I wish I'd had the money to buy one of each of my kids when they were small becaus eeliminating dressers/chests is an amazing thing. 1 Quote

I can think of 14 bookcases not counting the bed that has a bookcase headboard (and yes, storage underneath although we still needed a chest of drawers for that child). I would love to have built-in bookcases but then I'd never want to move... Lovely room. Great work with the paint job! 2 Quote

I have built in bookcases in my office and still think that was one of my top ten best things I persuaded dh to do when we built this house. I might put up a picture of those too, but it will have to be later, once the sun is up. Edited October 15, 2020 by Quill 5 Quote

I need to repaint our diningroom and hallway, and that color might be perfect. I, too, have a four-poster bed that I inherited from my parents. I love it! Your furniture set is timeless. I bought it at Lowe’s from their hg tv sherwin Williams line. The name is icicle. Quote
PrincessMommy Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 I love it. It is very inspirational. Quote
