Jean in Newcastle Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Now that I'm cooking in the family room and washing up the dishes in the bathroom, I really feel like I'm "camping". Fancy camping, with heat and electricity and water, but still camping. figure out dinner. Crockpot? try to tidy some things. Having things all over is starting to stress me out. laundry 5 Quote
Carrie12345 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 It’s Monday, so garbage and recycling, kitchen cleaning, and picking up groceries. Woke up remembering that there’s a Chewy box on my (uncovered) porch. It’s raining. So it looks like I’ll be figuring out how to get canned pet food inside when the sun comes up. We don’t have a doorbell, and most delivery trucks park on the street and walk up the drive, so we don’t know something’s here unless email says so or we walk into it. I walked into it last night, but got distracted and forgot to go back out to get it. School with 3 kids. 3 still feels weird. I’m used to 2 “teams” of 2. And dd is not used to having all of the focus on her during “Team 1” time, lol. Maybe vegetarian chili for dinner. The weather’s right, and we’ve had too much meat lately. @Jean in Newcastle I don’t miss cooking and cleaning in random other rooms, but my sons really miss being allowed to eat on the living room floor! 6 Quote
mom31257 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Good morning! We had a good fall break. We saw all of our immediate family and took ds to the college preview event at Lee University, where he wants to go and we have all gone. It was different with the social distancing and masks, but it was still a great experience. I have been having a terrible time with my reflux and stress issues, but I started a new medicine and am trying really hard to get some good sleep. That had been bad for a few weeks. I am having shakiness inside, so I am hoping that will subside with trying to take care of it all. The one good thing is that changing my eating has helped me lose some weight. Pray that I can relax and be less stressed. The usuals are done. meals (dinner is going to be take out) teach 4 math classes online tidy house ds having 5 friends over for a D&D game 4 1 Quote

Selkie Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Good morning! (((Amy))) I hope your anxiety subsides soon. I've spent my whole life wrestling with and smacking down anxiety and OCD, so I know how exhausting it is! My horses were supposed to have their fall checkups and shots this morning, but we woke up to pouring rain. The vet doesn't like to vaccinate wet horses (wet skin = increased risk of infection at the injection site), so we're having the appointment later in the week. office work - bills tidy up around my computer make a pot of beans roast more squash (my dogs ate most of what I roasted yesterday) order deodorant! (keep forgetting to do this & I don't want to run out...) dust & vacuum dinner: we got some beautiful leeks in our box, so I'm thinking I will make potato leek soup 3 1 Quote
mom31257 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Selkie, thank you so much! I'm sorry you have dealt with it so much! I definitely can have more empathy for people dealing with it. There is so much about to change and so much uncertainty for us in the next year. I really need to get a very good paying job, and I can't even look until we know if dh is going to find a job elsewhere. We would love to move closer to all our family. I worry about ds' success on the SAT/ACT to help us get at least a little bit of money. He didn't get to take it this summer, so I'm having him wait until after his College Algebra class to see if it can help his score. He's a nervous test taker, too. 4 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 I can see that today is going to be a "death by papercuts" sort of day. Time to really focus on God and His strength to get me through. Couldn't log fasting bloodsugars because my meter suddenly had low batteries and won't let me take one last measurement. Of course the spare batteries that I was sure I had gotten were not in their spot. I located another spot where dh had relocated the batteries in the midst of our remodeling mess and there was every kind of specialty battery there except for the one I need for my meter. Which is not a life and death situation (thus just a papercut) but still a lot of time wasted and a bit of frustration.) Then I got a message that the mastiff puppy that I've been helping with has a cough. Not a good thing in a dog boarding facility. Juliet just had her Bordatella booster and should be fine but I have to watch her for kennel cough. Papercut! Then I just lost this post while typing but fortunately the editor still had it in there. But papercut! Decided to fry my eggs on the grill outside because the rain had let up for the moment. I didn't realize that it would take so looooooong! But I got it done even though it took so long that my hot drink that I have with my eggs was cold by then and I had to traipse downstairs to the microwave again to heat it up! Double papercut! Fed Neko and Juliet. Fortunately Neko hasn't thrown up. . . so far. . . going to hit post for now while I work on the rest of my morning routine. 4 Quote

MysteryJen Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Good morning! I have a late check- this morning because ds3 had a final consolation match this morning against his doubles partner. ds3 won (playing really well) and it is always weird/uncomfortable watching your kid play his friend- especially when one is playing well and the other is struggling. Anyway- ds3 got 5th place overall and best- he won the sportsmanship award for the 16s tournament. That is so important to us as a family- I am really proud of him. So far: picked up bagels, planted a very small tree, and went to see if the kiosk at USPS was open today (it was not) To do: block a small project clean the kitchen/decide on dinner school with ds3 (he is already working) read a little more general cleanup/ garden things when the wind dies down work in sewing room make dinner at dinner time not sure what else Have a great day! 4 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 Threw clothes on brushed teeth went to the pharmacy - they didn't have the glucometer batteries I need went on to the grocery store - they did have the batteries (yay!) plus the final ingredients I needed for dinner tonight kind of frustrating trying to put stuff in the crockpot when the refrigerator and pantry are on a different floor of the house. Lots of steps though so there's a silver lining! Got everything in and then the outlet where the crockpot was plugged in stopped working! (Major papercut!) But I managed to get it to work again so yay! Hopefully it won't turn off before dinner is done. Lost this post again when I went to hit post. Why am I constantly doing that today? But again managed to find it saved so phew! 3 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted October 12, 2020 Author Posted October 12, 2020 burned off a lot of frustration doing my upper body PT exercises made bed finally oh and I had brushed teeth somewhere in the posts above. Just didn't note it. Not that it matters whether I note it but today of all days I feel like I need to make sure that I did things since everything is so topsy turvy! Oh and I've been ferrying things up and down stairs to try and tidy things a bit more. 3 Quote
