@Helpdesk

Prior to the most recent update, if I wanted to create a spoiler/hide text from other readers, I would use this:
hidden text goes here
This no longer works. Any ideas?

Kareni

I'll ask.  I was unaware of this option, myself.  I guess I come from a simpler time.   🙂

Am I the only one who always hears Helpdesk in a standard, friendly AI voice? More "What would you like to know Kareni?" - Ava, Ex Machina than "I can't do that, Kareni" - Hal, 2001 a Space Odyssey.

I've seen it done by turning a block of text to white and saying to highlight or select to read.

Like this, select the text to read:

Testing testing testing.

That looks great! Unfortunately, my Kindle Fire does not offer me different text colors.

Thanks for the chuckle, Susan!  I will happily skip the Hal version.

Karen, I posted the update here:

I'm pointing to this other forum because it will reach more people there, but wanted to let you know HERE so you could get your answer.

I shall use my scheduled work hours to re-watch 2001, in order to improve my communication skills within the Community, Susan.

(Was that good, Hal-wise?)

Karen, I posted the update here...

Sadly, I do not see the magical eye on my tool bar.

I see:

B I U   the link symbol, quote marks, the emoji symbol,

the two formatting icons, and the icon with the magnifying glass.

Kareni

I think it shows up only in the screen you see when you Start a New Topic.  I will see if it can be added to responses...

That would be wonderful; I'm far more likely to reply than to start a thread (says the person who started this thread!).

I was not able to find a way to add this function to a reply.  I'll look into it but I hope you will understand that this is not a super high priority item at the moment.  It's just the way things roll...but I will do what I can.

Awesome, but a better use of your time would be to read All Systems Red, by Martha Wells. I know @Kareni
agrees!

On my phone I can't type after I "@" somebody.

Thank you. Incidentally, I did not see the spoiler option when I attempted to start a post either.

If you type the enter button enough, I think people have to press the "see more" button to read it. A poor woman's spoiler method?

Is there truly a "see more" button?  I'm clearly living a deprived existence!

Thank you for the gratuitous cat picture, RootAnn; I like those seasonal decorations as well.

It is actually called "expand" and I think it only activates if you quote someone, alas. Sorry.

See if you can see it by clicking here. The post I linked (on the High School Board) & the one after it both have "expand" boxes for the quoted text. So, it would only work if you type out the post, quoted yourself, posted that, then went back & edited the original post.

I can indeed. I shall keep your method in mind, RootAnn, if I feel strongly about posting a spoiler; it's good to have a plan.

Does it work to just put lots of space in the middle of your post by using the enter key?  Trying that on my phone now.  (Spoiler alert)

Spoiler posted after all the space....  Ta-dah!

Eta:  Hooray!  It works!  I thought the system automatically filled the space, but that must be on another board.

That worked nicely, klmama; thanks for the experiment! I could still wish for a totally hidden spoiler, but this might do well in some cases.

ETA: Didn't work.
