Jean in Newcastle Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I just got an e-receipt for a store that I did not shop at. In fact, I was sitting at home 30 minutes away during the supposed transaction. And it used a debit card. I don't use or have a debit card. I looked at my online banking. No transaction has gone through taking money out of my account. I called the store manager. She's going to look into it. But she thinks that the cashier or customer accidentally put in my email by mistake? Is this possible? Could I have been hacked even though my credit history shows no activity and neither does my bank account? Quote
El... Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Hmmm. Perhaps someone used your email address for their own credit card application. Maybe start by changing the password on your email account. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Store manager just called me back. She thinks that the cashier typed in my rewards number (by possibly getting a digit wrong) and so it was sent to me by mistake. 4 Quote
Scarlett Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Yes I think it is entirely possible it happened just like the manager said. 1 Quote
