All right, here I go again with this topic.  Borosilicate glass or tempered glass?  Borosilicate withstands extreme temperature changes and can happily go from freezer to microwave or oven!  Tempered, I guess, has to thaw!  I was set on lifetub until a pp mentioned the baking lid would still be made from plastic and could leach onto/into food.  OXO is good and similar but was choosing lifetub over oxo because lifetub has the lids that can go in oven UNTIL the pp in the other thread reminded me they are still made from plastic.  IKEA has some nice ones too.  OXO and lifetub use Borosilicate.  That seems convenient to me to just pop from freezer to oven OR microwave and that was the selling point of Borosiicate.  But, only the containers are glass as the lids are plastic.  IKEA has a glass container and plastic top but I don't know what type of glass IKEA uses.

Now enters Williams-Sonoma and the Pyrex set they sell.  I'm fully sold on this one, kinda.  It has GLASS containers AND GLASS lids!!!! There is a small rim of plastic and that's it.  Doesn't seem like it would come into contact with food.  BUT, BUT, BUT, it's not Borosilicate.   It's tempered which means it needs to rest, thaw or whatnot.  I'll be freezer new meals (probably) and leftovers and popping in oven.  If refrigerated I may pop in microwave.  Just depends on food etc.

I either buy oxo or lifetub for the Borosilicate knowing the lid is plastic OR buy the nearly ALL GLASS Pyrex that uses tempered glass and lids go in microwave and oven too!

QUESTION - if you use tempered glass containers like what I'm looking to buy, what brand are they, how old?  Do you have tempered?  Do you freeze in them?  If so, how long do you allow to rest/thaw before putting in oven/microwave?  Would you recommend tempered?  I really want  to know if you recommend and how long it needs to rest from freezer before going in oven.

So, I've narrowed down my glass storage to the following:

1.  OXO Good Grips Smart Seal Container 12 Piece Glass Container Set,Clear
2.  lifetub+ -Glass Food Storage Containers with Lids Airtight, Large Glass
3.    https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/pyrex-ultimate-10-piece-glass-storage-set/?pkey=s|glass food storage containers|27
4.    IKEA

Again, I don’t know what my Pampered Chef ones are (glass wise) but I move them from the freezer to the fridge in the morning and put them in the oven in the evening.  I use the covers (loosened) in the microwave but not the oven.  If I need a container to be covered in the oven, which is unusual, I lay a flat metal cover from one of my All Clad Essential Pans on top of it, and that works great.  The handles make it easier to take the cover off before taking the pan out of the oven than with regular pans, bonus!

When I use canning jars for reheating thing, I either thaw them for 8+ hours in the fridge or soak them (sealed) in hot water until the sides of the food thaw.  Then I can slide the food out into a pot (in the manner of an old-fashioned can of cranberry sauce, LOL) and gently warm it in that on the stove.

These are not exactly what you asked, but they work, and might provide some useful info for you.

Thanks, Carol.  I think I'll go with the Pyrex tampered then.  I'll just have to know it needs to rest.   I'm going to call Pyrex on Monday for details on this before I make this purchase.

I have Ikea and Aldi versions. They work really well for fridge and microwave. I  haven't tried oven.

Aldi, yes.  I used to go regularly but haven't been for awhile.  Need to get back there.  Thanks on rec.  I might call IKEA too because they do not give many details.

FWIW, I received a lot of Pyrex glass containers with a plastic lid as wedding presents 32 years ago.  I used them hard for almost twenty years before handing the lot to my BFF and moving to England.  She is still using them.....had to buy replacement lids but they are now her dog bowls.  Which for her means they have an assortment of people food put hot inside, stuck in the freezer, and potentially rapidly thawed.  Plus her Newf’s eat out of them and occasionally abuse them.  I haven’t asked but a few years she commented that she hasn’t broken a single one.

Thanks so much for this review.   This is exactly the detail and reasoning I'm seeking. I'll go with Pyrex probably it has all of the features I'm seeking except the glass type.  That's ok, I may just have to thaw a bit.  I'll call Pyrex on Monday. Williams and Sonoma had one box set of the 10 pc.  After speaking with Pyrex I'll make my way over there and buy.  MUCH appreciated.

I only use PYREX, never Pyrex. I had my forensic science students do a glass lab - such fun! They got to see the difference in how each type shatters and the incredible effect extreme heat to cold (or vice versa) have. Very cool stuff. I stalk thrift stores and buy PYREX any time I find it for my young adult dc. I have never had an issue with freezing, oven, etc. with PYREX.

Unfortunately things come and go at Aldi. Do you have a website that lists current specials?

Thanks, too, for this. Helpful.  Appreciate the tip.  Didn't notice PYREX vs. Pyrex.

These aren't going to go on special.  Because I feel moving away (as much as possible) from plastic is important and their are certain features I seek, I'm limited in product sets.  I'll probably go with PYREX.

I had a glass pan of lasagna shatter in my hand/ hot pad as I lifted it from the oven and placed on countertop. It was 30 years old Pyrex so I assume it was PYREX label. Does anyone know when the company switched between the types of glass?

The date is disputed with some saying 1998 but other claims that the switch was happening decades before that. Did your pan break into fewer larger pieces or many smaller pieces?
