Skippy Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I could eat a whole Hershey bar, but am satisfied with a small square of dark chocolate, and I feel like I have had a treat. Are there other satisfying treats that work this way? So, milk chocolate is to dark chocolate as [potato chips, ice cream, or doughnuts, etc.] are to ___________? Quote
mmasc Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Kind of along the same lines as ‘a little is enough’. I love those dark chocolate covered almonds with sea salt (I’ve gotten them at Trader Joe’s and Aldi before). If I eat 4-5, I’ve had plenty and feel satisfied. I also feel satisfied with a small amount of Fage plain Greek yogurt mixed with frozen cherries and a touch of honey. Kind of an ice cream-ish substitute of sorts. It’s very thick and rich, so a small amount is plenty. 1 Quote

I have to count them out and then leave the room with them🤣 I have noticed though that when I’ve allowed myself to just eat as many as I want, that I’ve gotten a stomachache, so that helps. 😬 1 Quote
marbel Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 A piece of decent room-temperature cheese on some crusty sourdough or French bread. 3 Quote
wintermom Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 If I need salt fix, instead of potato chips I'll eat salted sunflower seeds or pistachios. If I need a sugar fix, I'll have either dark chocolate or dates (I like Deglet Noor, but there are different kinds with different levels of sweetness and stickiness). 2 Quote
Laura Corin Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 This is probably just me, but I find one or two prunes to be really satisfying, like that square of chocolate. 4 Quote

AmandaVT Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I just polished off an apple cider doughnut from the apple orchard, so I'm probably not the best one to answer this question! We have a local shop here that sells Magic Chunks - dark or milk chocolate covered granola bites. They're so yummy and one or two really is satisfying. (they ship) Quote
J-rap Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I can eat a very small bowl of plain yogurt with a few peanuts and either a drizzle of pure maple syrup or a spoonful of unsweetened jam and get the same satisfaction. Or, that chia seed pudding. (Yum!) Quote
Elizabeth86 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 My favorite healthy sweet treat is a cashew cookie Lara Bar. Made of cashews and dates only. It feels like dessert. Quote

Ausmumof3 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Bliss balls. Cocoa, dates. Almonds, honey or maple syrup, coconut blended. Instant energy fix. Also sometimes when I’m feeling low in the arvo a tsp of honey helps. Like most natural sweet substances it’s instantly satisfying and doesn’t leave cravings for more. Quote
