Not_a_Number Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 NY finally came up with a contact tracing up. I've been happy with their contact tracing, frankly, since they hired a lot of people and seem to be tracing outbreaks successfully. However, an app seems like a good idea as well. Do your states have contact tracing apps? Are people using them? Quote
Not_a_Number Posted October 2, 2020 Author Posted October 2, 2020 Bumping. Any experience with this? Quote
Spryte Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I downloaded our state’s contact tracing app as soon as it was available. I think our state was one of the first, or maybe the first, to have an app. Last I heard, only about 1/8 of our state’s population had downloaded it. I like it. But am skeptical how well it will work since I’m using it in a vacuum, if no one else downloads it. Quote
Pen Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 My state doesn’t, but I think it would be another help. I heard that Apple or Google delete have apps available, but don’t know for sure. Someone told me not being pushed, being left personal optional. I don’t know how functional yet. Requires right operating system which apparently I do not have. Obviously it can’t be super functional if people are not on the apps yet. I think like with mask wearing that if an app is available, joining may help make it a thing. 1 Quote

kbutton Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I don't think my state has one, and I think people would be in an uproar if the state launched one. PA has one now, but I don't know how it works, or if people are using it much. Before using one, I would want to know how it works and if it will track anything after I delete it. I don't use things like Amazon Echo in my home, but I would be willing to use an app if I understood the ins and outs. 1 Quote

Laura Corin Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Scotland has. The population is 5.5 million and 1.3 million people have downloaded it. I have it running all the time on my phone. 1 Quote
SounderChick Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 To my knowledge my state doesn't have one. Considering how people around here feel about contact tracing I don't think it would be much use. Quote
Terabith Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 Virginia has one. COVIDWISE. I have downloaded it, and most of the folks I know have downloaded it, but I'm not sure we're a statistically random sample..... Quote
