Scarlett
Does anyone know the rest of the story on this? Does this child live with them? Was a custody dispute involved? Was it really just a random stranger abduction attempt? I have so many questions.
MercyA
Sounds like an intruder and a stranger to me: https://www.npr.org/2020/09/28/917738374/joe-and-jennifer-montana-foil-attempted-kidnapping-of-their-grandchild
MercyA
You know what I think of when I hear Joe Montana? That Brady Bunch episode... 🙂 Off to look for more info on the crime.
MercyA
Another article calls the intruder a "stranger." This one says their door was unlocked (yes, I know it's TMZ): https://www.tmz.com/2020/09/27/joe-montana-malibu-house-home-property-trespasser-snatches-baby/
MercyA
Joe Montana has been married to his current wife since 1985. They have four kids. Guessing the baby was just visiting.
mommyoffive
I heard of this on the morning news. How scary. I am so glad the baby is safe and kudos to him and his wife for handling the situation.
ktgrok
It says in the one article the woman picked up the child, then went upstairs (in their house??)..so weird.
Corraleno
It doesn't actually sound like a kidnapping attempt, more like a mentally ill woman wandered into their house. She didn't grab the baby and run, she picked up the baby and went upstairs, where the Montanas were. She could have just run out the front door if she was really trying to steal the child. When Jennifer Montana took the baby back the woman ran away. https://www.npr.org/2020/09/28/917738374/joe-and-jennifer-montana-foil-attempted-kidnapping-of-their-grandchild
Scarlett
Probably is just a mentally ill woman. Do they have custody of that grandchild?
Lady Florida.
I heard about this last night. Everything I was hearing then sounded like he was the one who stopped the woman when it was actually his wife. He did get a sheriff deputy to stop but she's the one who took the baby from the woman. It's not his fault, it's the media's for how they wrote the headlines. I had a celebrity crush on the young Joe Montana back in the day. 🙂
Farrar
What a crazy story. She does sound like she was mentally ill. Or something was really off. I'm glad they were able to protect the child.
