lovinmyboys Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 I would like to get some nicer ones for myself and also for my boys. I’m mostly looking for comfort while writing for my kids and maybe something slightly fancy for myself. Quote
hippiemamato3 Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Papermate Flair pens and Papermate InkJoy Gel Pens are my favorites. 1 Quote
Bambam Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 I love the Pilot G2 pens, but when they get close to empty, they start leaking- or at least three in a row did for me, so I watch them very closely - once they start to get a little scratchy with writing, immediately toss them out. I now have Zebra Sarasa click pens for my purse and other items that I don't want ink leaked on. I really like these, but the ink doesn't flow quite as well as the G-2s. But they've never leaked on me! Quote
SoCal_Bear Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 (edited) Frixon erasable gel pens. They really are erasable. Be careful though if you leave it in heat like a hot car, all the writing can vanish. I prefer the 0.7 myself, but the tri-color pens are 0.5 only. This was perfect because you can erase and my son could use this when using pencils all the time used up his stamina. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=frixion+heat+erasable+pens&crid=2I49D38CNWEHR&sprefix=frixon+%2Caps%2C223&ref=nb_sb_ss_sc_3_7 Pentel Twist Erase Click. Awesome because it has very long erasers in the barrel which is a must. And to advance the lead you do not have to click the end of the pencil. You squeeze the side. It is 0.7mm which means the lead can withstand the pressure of kids better than 0.5mm lead. The best deal is when it is at costco, but the pricing is pretty good on Amazon as well. https://www.amazon.com/Pentel-Twist-Erase-Contains-Automatic-Pencils/dp/B00LW3OWAS/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=mechanical+pencil+click&qid=1601087395&sr=8-5 Edited September 26, 2020 by calbear Quote
PeterPan Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Energel. And they come in colors. Pencils? Do they tend to break their leads? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CRGP8B6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can still find them possibly at Walmart. They key is the 1.3mm lead. They're also a bit thicker than normal. Of course, who am I to talk? I let my ds write with smelly markers, lol. I don't know what I'll use when I start him on Cursive Logic. I kind of decided to put all our focus on the typing right now. These 1.3mm pencils are what I have so I'll probably continue with them. I also found some instructions to make pencil weights that you cover with adhesive foam. https://therapyfunzone.net/blog/making-a-comfortable-weighted-pencil/ Quote
slackermom Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Seconding the EnerGel pen by Pentel. And for mechanical pencils, my lefty will only use Papermate's ClearPoint with the .5 lead. Quote
mathnerd Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 (edited) For the "slightly fancy" ones for yourself: I love the Blackwing Palomino pencils for my own use. https://blackwing602.com/products/blackwing-set-of-12 They make their own sharpeners and it is best to use them as the pencils are quite expensive. https://blackwing602.com/products/blackwing-two-step-long-point-sharpener My husband who is a mechanical pencil user has the Rottring Rapid PRO pencil: https://www.amazon.com/rOtring-Rapid-Mechanical-Pencil-Matte/dp/B0055ZS57U Edited September 26, 2020 by mathnerd 1 Quote
gardenmom5 Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 dudeling is extremely picky about pens and pencils. Zebra F-402 and a Pilot Mechanical pencil, 0.7mm. Though 1ds (engineer) got him hooked on Staedtler 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil (comes in different sizes.). 😒 they're not cheap pencils for a teenager. Me - I use whatever shows up in my pen drawer. If I have something I like, it won't be there the next time I look. Quote

They tend to get flat and I have to turn the pencil to get some kind of point or edge. Papermate's ClearPoint were used much by both my lefty and righty. Quote
Spy Car Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 The Rotring 600 mechanical pencils are on sale now on Amazon. $14 for the black 0.5 and $17 for the 0.7 in silver. Fantastic pencils. Great prices (considering the very high quality). Bill Quote
