Janeway Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 If a scholarship/grant provides a computer, do you return it in the end or if you do not complete your degree? This is one not based from the college but rather an outside one that can be used at any of the colleges in the state. 1 Quote
Lanny Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 You need to read (and understand) every word of the "Fine Print" of the offer. If I were to assume, yes, you would need to either return the computer to them or pay them for it. That's the way it is at Carolina, but I try not to assume. The exact offer you are contemplating is the one you need to study. Quote
Lanny Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Follow on to clarify what I wrote above. In the case of Carolina, if my DD graduates (hopefully she will!) the machine is hers. However, if she should drop out for some reason, then she would either need to return the machine to them or pay them for the original cost. Quote
AEC Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 I wonder how much it matters, practically speaking. A new laptop with the same specs of one you got 4 years ago is going to be pretty inexpensive. If you're presented with a 'pay for the original cost to keep it' offer, you should definitely decline. 1 Quote
