bethben Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I am on an anti inflammatory diet to try and heal my adrenals, gut issues, and eczema. I am not eating grains, eggs, dairy, and sugar. I also have intolerances to almonds and cashews. The good thing— my eczema is clearing up quickly. Five days into this, and one large patch is almost gone. The bad? I’m hungry!!! Breakfast is my main problem. I eat a smoothie with berries, kale, and coconut kefir, but that barely fills me up. I then eat a bunch of walnuts—still hungry. Help! I am working with someone to help my gut heal so I can eat more foods, but it’s not going to be a quick fix. 2 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 When I wasn't eating eggs I would sometimes have scrambled tofu. https://simpleveganblog.com/simple-tofu-scramble/ Quote
happi duck Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Can you add nut butter or seeds (flax, chia) to the smoothie? 1 Quote
Selkie Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I eat big salads with lots of roasted veggies and tofu for breakfast, which is very filling. Quote
Selkie Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 You could also add cannellini beans or chickpeas to your smoothie to make it more filling and add nutrition. I find it does not affect the taste at all. 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Chicken, onions, peppers, with avocado and salsa is delicious for breakfast Quote

Can you not eat proteins like beef and chicken? Or healthy fats? Quote
Slache Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I'll bet you're not eating enough fat. Try avocado with breakfast and see if that changes your day. 2 Quote
PrincessMommy Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Sounds like we're on a similar journey.... aka my thread about 24hr fasting nut butters fat bombs beef bone broth Quote
PrincessMommy Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Also, Carbmanager is a good tool to track your intake. It will calculate your fat, protein, and carb intake. It may provide you some guidence as to where you are slacking on good fats/protein. Quote
lmrich Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I found frozen avocado chunks in my grocer's freezer, or you can freeze them yourself. They are perfect to add to a smoothie and really make it more filling and creamy. 1 Quote

They are too expsenive to waste. Mine have consistently been rock hard on the outside and brown/black on the inside. 😡 1 Quote

When my dd was home this summer it was her job to buy the avocados - she has the magic touch! 1 Quote
bethben Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 I can eat meat. I just go through it so fast. I'm positive I'm not getting enough fat also and am looking at some fat bomb recipes. Honestly, our grocery budget is insane. It's twice our mortgage (not counting taxes and insurance). I have a child who can't tolerate gluten and a child who is lactose intolerant so I cook what I can eat and the problem is solved. I just have two teens and two twenties. It's really hard to keep food in the house anyway and I usually get the short end of the stick. It's so annoying having to label everything "don't eat" I'm just going to have to go to Costco today and load up on organic meats I can eat. Avocados are still a little iffy. I officially tested as having intolerances to them also. Ironically, the things I can't eat are the very things a person who is going on an anti-inflammatory diet should eat as substitutes. 1 Quote
