Janeway Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 My ears have been hurting, but my son has it worse. Can anyone please recommend facemasks that go around the head instead of the ears? Quote
RootAnn Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 (edited) Consider getting some "ear savers" instead of new masks. There are lots of varieties. I like these. https://www.etsy.com/listing/819963692/sets-of-3-or-5-adult-or-child-earsaver Edited August 25, 2020 by RootAnn 4 Quote
barnwife Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 If you don't want to use ear savers, I've gotten some from CLEkrafts on etsy. Actually, I've gotten adult and kid sizes there. Quote

Consider sewing a piece of elastic from earloop to earloop to act as a permanent ear-saver 2 Quote

I have not seen any masks sold with elastic going around but we have modified some masks with elastic we bought separate because this is the type my daughter likes (a friend gave us one like it) (When we modify with elastic, we take off the existing ear loops and add the elastic instead.) Clear Creek Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 The 2-layer cotton masks at Swaddle Designs have an elastic that goes around the head (the 3-layer do not). I have a couple, and the ear loops are not tight on the ears; the elastic that goes around the head is what holds it in place. Quote
vonfirmath Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Oh I just found Cotton Boutique on Etsy with apparent Elastic around the head. https://www.etsy.com/shop/CottonBoutique?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=802526483§ion_id=28305290 1 Quote

I've also attached elastic to one side & attached buttons or other ways to grab the ear loop to the other side (making it adjustable if there are more than one setting). We have a lot of masks & several of us. My time is valuable so I like the kids are able to just grab an attachable/ adjustable ear saver & go with whatever mask is clean & available. Quote
catz Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 The other thing you can do with tie masks that go around the head is use like an elastic pony tail holder and tie the ends to the pony tail holder instead of each other. You can easily pull it up or down without untying then. We even throw them through the wash that way. Or you can get cord locks to use with the tie ones too. I haven't seen too many masks with elastic that go all the way around the head. Quote

AnIslandGirl Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 https://theoysterbag.com/collections/our-masks/products/cloth-face-masks?variant=35963984019606 Oyster Bag company masks are updated each day with new styles. As she makes them each day, they are uploaded/ updated with new designs and availability around noon est. I bought 3 and they are all high quite fabrics and very comfortable to wear. Quote
KungFuPanda Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 If your current masks are cloth, you can probably modify them to be "around the head" by threading a longer piece of elastic through the side seams. Quote
