Anyone with kids signed up?  How are you feeling about them taking the test?  What precautions will they be taking if they are going?

My boys are signed up for their first SAT2.  Trying to make a decision as to whether I actually want them to go.  It is only an hour -- not 3 hours -- but still not super comfortable.

Double checking to make sure it is still on at this point.

Sigh....

I actually tried to cancel my son's registration this week. Unfortunately it had to be done back in July.

His predicted subject test scores aren't worth the covid risk or the study time opportunity cost. The schools he's most enthusiastic about won't care.

Ours got just cancelled. It has been so much hard work and studying. We have no outside to grade it show for it. I hate this virus.

Edited to fix misunderstanding 🙂

So sorry!  I just read something on the admission ticket that at least offered a $10 refund.  But...ours is only a subject test.  I called the school and ours is still on.  But the school I wanted closer to us got moved to a school in another county.

I'm so sorry!  It is hard when they've put all that work into it and the opportunity is gone.

You have COVID?  Were you going to send you child to the test center anyway?  I'm so very sorry if you have this!!!

no, CA schools are online so most test centers are closed. 😞 We simply can’t find a spot to test.

Oh no!  We seem to be mostly open here in Northern Virginia.

Thank you!  I was feeling so bad for her :-(.  I hate this virus too and what it is doing to so many people, in so many different ways!

My son is registered and as of today the test is still on. We live in Georgia. He will wear a mask (it is required) and they say they will space the kids out. I'm having him take it as I have no confidence in that he will have other options to take it in the fall. I feel like it's just a matter of time until another local shutdown. People are not behaving here.

My ds is taking it, too.  It is mandatory for him to take the test with mask on and will be 6 ft apart.  Also, he was supposed to be at a school 5 mins away and now it is 45 mins away.    I wish I cancelled, especially since he does not need it.  I am not sharing results to any school.   All schools he chose said SAT is not needed, some just took it off forever, no SAT EVER.

I just did not think this through!  Now he is taking the 3 hrs test in a mask.  Who knows how he will do with the mask on.

Same.  I saw the refund on Friday, just AFTER we returned home from the OMV to get the ID to get him into the test.  Sigh.  He's been putting in 30-45 minutes a day for 6 weeks, so I'm really bummed for him.  We signed up for September's test, but who knows.

We're in Hampton Roads and all cancelled.

I keep checking but we are still a go.  I don't think any were cancelled, but 2 schools in my county were moved to a school in another county.

Our cases are going up a bit at the moment 😞

My daughter's test is still on for August. I've been having her do full practice tests with a mask on so that she's used to it. I keep checking the school where my daughter is taking the test and so far no cases (been back to school for 2 weeks now). I spoke to a spouse of one of the teachers at the school, and she said everything was still on, and they are determined to keep the test going.

We have been isolating ourselves so that we are not in contact with anyone. They have questions they have to answer on test day, and I want my daughter to be 100% able to answer so that she can take the test. It would suck to find out the day before or so that you have come into contact with someone who tested positive. I don't want that to happen.

I keep checking too.  Our schools are closed -- all virtual through 1st quarter at least.  School start got moved back to Sept. 8th so I hope that works in our favor.

We are still in Phase 1 lock down at my house -- LOL.  Nobody will be getting it from us.

My guys took a practice test in double masks and are wearing it for an hour a day while doing school or test prep -- just to get them in practice.

Is your daughter doing the full SAT or a subject test?  We are just the 1 hour subject test this time.

My daughter is taking the full SAT. She took it back in December and did well, but she wants to get her scores up for certain schools and scholarship potential. She was scheduled to take the SAT in March and May and the SAT Subject tests in June, but when March and May got cancelled, we changed her June test day to the regular SAT, and that got cancelled. At this point, we don't think she'll get subject tests in. We've checked the schools she's interested in, and all the ones that were requiring SAT Subject tests for homeschoolers are not requiring them for this one year only.

I wish her so much luck!!!  My guys are just entering 10th grade so not as much stress since we aren't applying to colleges yet.  Am not signing up for anymore until we see how things go this year with COVID.  So crazy!!!
