SKL Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 (edited) Howdie! Happy Monday! Yesterday was very unproductive work wise, plus I forgot to do something I promised "over the weekend." How this happens I do not know. I mean, I remembered it right after waking up this morning. So why not yesterday? Anyhoo, needless to say, my work is cut out for me today. The kids have all-day band camp, plus Kid1 has 2 sports activities at school today. They have a 1hr lunch break, so I gave them $$ and told them to walk down the street and buy something to eat. I don't see spending 1.5 hours driving around so they can eat leftovers at home. 😛 They are not allowed to stay at school and eat due to Covid rules. Done: Laundry in the wee hours. Band camp prep: 1 check, 2 permission slips, packed 2 snack bags etc. Dropped kid1 off at cross country. Dropped kid2 at band camp along with kid1's band stuff. Caught up on emails, news, calendar, and social media. Checked in with kid about her possibly sprained ankle ... she says it seems to be healing but as she just ran 5 miles, it still hurts .... Working on coffee 1. To do: More coffee. Wash at least 1 load of laundry - need white shirt for soccer tonight. Lots of client work! Deadlines and commitments .... Make an appointment for Chromebook pickup at school. 2 donations, 1 return, maybe pay a bill or two. Pick up the kids at 3pm. Kid1 to soccer at 7pm. A little reading. Yoga, walking. Whatever else gets done. Edited August 17, 2020 by SKL 6 Quote
mom31257 Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Scout, praying for a great first day! Kelly, praying you feel better! Two classes are done, so two to go. Ds stayed up until almost 2 last night talking with his sister. I'm really glad they will do that, but he needs to get moving on schoolwork. 4 1 Quote
Selkie Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Good morning! Done: early morning animal care texted the farrier with a happy update (all three hoof patients are doing well) did two loads of laundry and folded two baskets of clean stuff went to the vet for an Adequan injection (My new car is too high up for my dogs to easily get in and out, so I was looking at ramps on Chewy. None of them have great reviews and they are pretty pricey. Ds21 suggested trying one of our portable mounting blocks, that we use for getting on the horses. It is like a mini staircase that is lightweight but sturdy, and it works perfectly! It fits in the back of the car nicely, too.) made breakfast for dh scooped the front yard To do: clean! My house is looking extra messy today. I am going to skip office work and attempt to get the house under control. catch up on laundry do the kitchen things that didn't get done yesterday - cut up fruits & veg & make salad dressing, hummus, and cashew mayo vacuum my car, which is covered in dog fur order more garage door openers dinner: baked potatoes & vegan crab cakes 5 Quote

And fantastic that you have a friend coming this week. 5 Quote

TheReader Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Finished Orientation prep (which is Weds) Printed the hand out remembered to request son's online appt for med refills talked with a neighbor confirmed with the kids when they are having their DnD group over emailed parents with my Orientation info (asking them to consider staggering the Meet the Teacher vs. all 20+ of them coming in the single 30 minute time slot allotted for our age group) had lunch, took a nap (before the above, but whatever) writing an email to a different friend and hanging out over here while DH practices a report he has to give (he does not like an audience) talked to my mom, told her no, she/my aunt cannot stay here the day my aunt gets off a plane, mom understood my concerns, thankfully 4 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted August 18, 2020 Author Posted August 18, 2020 Left for friends' house at 11 a.m. Stopped at QFC and got some canned pumpkin for Juliet. I can't find it any other grocery store. We got to their house around noon. Had a lovely and safe visit. Ate together, dh worked on trying to remove fence posts (unsuccessfully because whoever put those in used a boatload of cement), we had great conversation. My stupid stamina (or lack thereof) did me in though. Around 3 pm I almost fell asleep while talking. (This happened once before at their house in the middle of a party. My body gives out and I just fall asleep. I woke up to find a plate with cake on my lap. 😉 ) Anyway, we left around 4 pm. Dh drove us home and I slept all the way home. We did stop at the grocery store on the way home and grabbed something to eat for a light supper. But now I am in pain and I am way too tired. It's kind of good that I had this experience though. I have been wondering if I should work since so many people want help with childcare/ teaching/ tutoring and of course I have experience with all of the above. But this helped highlight to me that just sitting for 4 hours and being "on" was too much for me. I have managed to wash, dry and put away dishes, pans and knives. I have been doing them slowly in short bursts. 2 Quote

Margaret, did you get that just from activity around your ranch or from actually walking for exercise as well? I know the most I've ever had in a day was nearly 25,000, but that was at Disney in a park all day long. I can't imagine getting that many in a day! 2 Quote
