ScoutTN Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) We are going to church for the first time since March. ✅ I want to finish setting up mom's Grandpad and take it to her. Need her to call me bc her phone is not ringing properly. ✅ And delivered. Dinner is burgers if it doesn't rain, leftovers if it does. Burgers are made, buns are out of the oven. SKL Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Howdy, happy Sunday! We all agreed that the maids should not come today, so this is the first day in a while that I have noplace to go (other than my walk later). I was going to take the kids out and force them to do some exercise, but it's raining, so that might not happen. So now I have the luxury of a whole day at home to prioritize as I wish. Unless something changes .... I have a list of August 15 deadlines, which means Monday in this case since 8/15 was a Saturday. Hoping to get a lot done today and clear a lot of inbox items, both work and personal. Done: Was up most of the night catching up on reading my kids' texts (to / from friends) since late June. Obviously I need to keep up better. 😛 Caught up on calendar, emails, news, and social media. Gave Kid2 her list of duties for today. She is not thrilled. Kid1 has not emerged from her bedroom, probably because she doesn't want to hear her to-do list. Finished coffee 1. To do: Lots of client work. Try to clear my personal email inbox [all "to-do's"]. Catch up on all work reporting officially due through 8/15. Clear as many work inbox items as possible. Listen to 4 church services with the kids. Make the kids do some house cleaning, music practice, exercise, and shower. Catch up on personal bills, returns, filing, and some organizing. Send music to trumpet teacher. Send email to band director re getting additional music for marching band. Email school tech people re appointment to pick up the kids' Chromebooks. Test Kid2's school online password and see if I can find her 2020-21 schedule on there. Catch up on the laundry. Make a plan for at least some math practice so we aren't completely lost when school starts. A little reading. Yoga, walking. Whatever else gets done. Edited August 16, 2020 by SKL 3 Quote
SKL Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Also ... I really need to find a solution to our internet problem. These past several days, it's been kicking me out very frequently ... often every few minutes. I can't work like this, and when the kids start online school, it's going to be even more ridiculous. Ugh. 4 Quote

TravelingChris Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 So yesterday the A/C broke and was pretty much a wasted day workwise. The AC was repaired around 6:30 at night but it took hours to get to a comfortable spot. We have a temporary blower and they are ordering a new one on Monday. Fortunately our AC warranty is still in effect for about 1.5 years more and so there will be no cost. But today I need to get a lot done. And that is going to be hard because I am very tired. After a fairly easy breakfast (I did make some mocha coffee that took a bit of trouble), we went to Home Depot where I got new window boxes-- our old ones were 14 years old plastic and it showed. They are black plastic but the plants will be under a covered porch so not getting hardly any direct sun and not overheating. I also picked up three lovely aster plants, one stokesia to add to the two I got earlier this year, one coneflower to add to the two I got earlier this year, and one Lantana because they just grow and grow and grow and butterflies love them and they come back here in our protected zone 7a or maybe b, because of the protection of the woods moderating the temperatures in the winter. Then we watched church and the sermon was from the Book of Daniel so I looked up the answer in my dh's reformed Bible about the fourth figure in the oven with Mesach, Abendigo, and Shadrach (another thread on here). Then lunch was leftover Japanese Hibachi dinner we ordered last night. I transplanted one group of plants I bought last week from a group for the homeless, and I have two more to do but can't do all in one day. Put away yesterday's laundry and started a load of towels. To Do Take a break, then do lots of planning. Watch Endeavor tonight 3 Quote
Selkie Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Ds21 and I got a massive amount of work done outside. Cleaned up the paddocks, deep cleaned all the stalls, took apart the automatic waterer and scrubbed it, straightened up the tack room, emptied garbage. Nice to have everything looking so neat and tidy! Next up: Take my second shower of the day (cuz I am filthy head to toe and smell like a pile of horse manure), switch the laundry, tend my outside plants, and get some work done in the kitchen. 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 (edited) Church was odd. Some laundry put away, more working. Cherry hand pies in the oven. A summer tradition in our family that somehow got skipped in July. Made them today to commemorate the passing of summer. Tomorrow is the first day of school/homeschool for my kids. Called mom on her new device to make sure it works. Snack Still to do: Finish tagging consignment clothes and check drop off times. Too tired. Grill burgers, pick tomatoes, make salad. ✅ I'm exhausted. All that well-rested reserve from the shut down is long gone. Edited August 17, 2020 by ScoutTN 2 Quote
Selkie Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Did our evening horse chores early. Ds21 and dd are heading up to the farm store to pick up an order and have to be there before 6:00. Horses are fed and hoof treatments are done for the day. 1 Quote

Selkie Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 23 minutes ago, Margaret in CO said: One more load of laundry to sort and one to take off the line. All the bedding from the trailer is washed. Made 45 masks--35 more khaki ones and 41 red/white ones to go and then I'm hanging up my sewing machine for awhile Haying was going well, until dh hit a rock, and caught his arm in the steering wheel. Off for x-rays. He wouldn't let me take him. Of course, before he came to the house he drove the picker in, unloaded a load, and then put gas in his truck. I think it may be cracked. Walked 8 miles Still have not dealt with Rendezvous but I DID figure out the celiiac thing for a LEAD kid. HIs mom was grateful that I was planning ahead. Admired a friend's new baby: Arthur! Watered Hope your dh is okay! 1 Quote
SKL Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Well, as usual, I only cleared a fraction of my to-do list. Caught up on church, walked 3+ miles, got the kids to do some cleaning and music practice, got 1 load in the washer, had a work discussion, processed a bill and a cash transfer, cleared some clutter, washed some dishes, took out garbage, read a bit. Better than nothing, I guess. I wonder, how many others regularly make a list that feels do-able in the morning, and then end up with a large % of it undone? 2 Quote
