So, I admit we have always just given our dogs Kirkland brand dog food.

Now we have this gourmet dog who came to us eating gourmet food.  We ordered it because that is what the breeder used.

We ran out before our next shipment has come in.  So, yesterday we ran to the store and got junkie food, Beneful, and thought that would be fine while we wait for the next shipment.

Oy boy!   4am diarrhea all over the master bedroom carpet.   DH took him out and I cleaned up the carpet.  Then later this morning we found more on the tile.  Tile at least is easier to clean up.

I called the company and they said it will take up to 6 days to get to us.

What do we do in the meantime?

HELP!

And I guess now we have to spend the extra to food our dogs, or at least on the puppy.  The older dog is used to the Kirkland.

The brand we are using is called TLC and looks like it is only available online.

Beneful is some really, truly nasty stuff. It's probably about the worst you could have picked up.

First thing you want to do is fast the dog for a bit to let his tummy settle down. I'd give it a good 12 hours following the last bout of diarrhea, if not 24. Some of the timing depends on the size and age of the dog--it's not a good idea to fast young or small dogs as long as larger adult ones. Make sure he drinks a little now and then to stay hydrated. Then if possible I'd start back with something bland and easily digestible, like some cooked chicken and rice or boiled/scrambled eggs and rice. Lean, well drained ground beef should be okay, too. If that goes okay then you could try mixing in just a tiny bit of the Kirkland. If you're going to have to explore new foods then there's probably no harm in first trying what you already have on hand. Or a store brand I've always had excellent luck with for tricky tummies is Purina One sensitive systems.

I've never heard of TLC, but hopefully someone else will know of a similar food. I'd look for something that has about the same ingredients (same primary protein and carb source) and is close in protein and fat content.

Also going to say Purina Sensitive Systems, for temporary fix, but just rice/white bread/mashed potatoes/chicken breast/eggs for a day or so first, then mix it in.

We do not have any Kirkland at the moment and no time to go to Costco (it isn't close) until prob. Sunday.

I had switched the other dog when we started ordering as she kept trying to eat the puppy's food.  So I just got her the adult version.

We do have plenty of rice and chicken broth though.
