2squared Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 I need some guidance on how to start DDPY. Can someone offer DDPY for dummies info? Where do you recommend to start? Is there a beginner level? I’m not crazy about following on my tiny phone screen, so do they have a computer screen option? I really want to use my muscle and work on flexibility. DDPY seems worth a try. Thanks! 1 Quote
Ottakee Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Do you have (or are you willing/able to buy) a smart TV? If so, you can cast the app to your TV and watch it there. I splurged and about myself a $100 smart TV just for DDPY. What level of fitness are you? Bed Flex is for people with a lot of difficulty moving and just walking around. You exercise in bed Chair to Stand is for those that can easily get out of bed but have injuries, balance issues, or unable the stand for long periods of time. You sit in a sturdy metal folding chair for almost everything. Stand strong has you standing next to the chair and using it for balance and support. Beginner 2.0 is the basic level for people who are able to move around well but new to DDPY. You can always start at one level and change if you need to go lower or higher. Ideally you have a yoga mat and a sturdy folding chair (if starting below beginner level). Yoga blocks can be helpful. A heart monitor that connects to the app is also helpful but not mandatory. I started with the Stand Strong level and was ready to move to beginner after the 13 week (3 month) program. Then I tore the meniscus in my knee and repeated the stand strong for another 4 weeks and just moved in to beginner 2.0. 1 Quote
ktgrok Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 I use the "On Demand" subscription, which I can access online or on a channel on my Roku for the TV. If you are normal fitness, than in the menu you'd go to DDP Yoga and work through the Diamond Dozen first, to learn the moves. (don't have to do it all at once). Then go to Energy, which is the first level of workout. Or there are modified versions using chairs, etc. 1 Quote

Are you talking about using a smart TV, or do you actually use something like an hdmi cable? I have a great smart TV in one room I could use wirelessly, and a not-so-smart but relatively modern tv in the room I’d prefer to do the workouts in. People do both. I have a smart tv my phone can find, or I think you can use a chromecast device plugged into a less smart tv, or you can use an actual cable - what kind depends on your phone, but one that is HDMI on one end and has the right "plug" on the other for your phone. Oh, and as for "how" when you start the workout on your phone there is an icon to tap to screen share it. When you tap that the available options will come up. Quote
