Yesterday s*cked mostly.  I went to the book club and already should have known it would not be a good meeting.  The book selected was 'Team of Rivals: the Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" by Doris Kearns Goodwin and was 916 pages.  I decided that since the author is a plagiarist and the book was too long for me to read at this time, I would choose an alternate book about Lincoln.  But that was not the problem.  It was that I had not looked at who was presenting the book---it was an very progressive, late 80s woman who is very friendly but does not stop talking and basically preaching/  My dd1 was serving on the Outreach community in my church with her (this book club is also through the church) and everyone but her has quit because of that women-- she makes those meetings last way too long and doesn't let anyone speak.  My dd really wants to stay on it, because she wants to do her yearly food drive. Anyway, she dominated the conversation, disregarded what many of us wanted to be the discussion- dissension in the country, then  and I was hot and not too happy.

Then I had a tasty lunch, went to my coumadin appt and found out that three CRNP (all of the caregivers deciding the dosages, monitoring interactions, giving advice on diet ((with coumadin, you have to be careful on how much of blood thinning and blood clotting foods and drinks you partake and balance those out)),  telling people when they need to be taking shots (( also involves making sure that certain blood values have been checked within the last year and are in the right range and also calculating what dose to take based on weight)), and helping with travel-- like I will be getting a blood order to take with me on my 23 day road trip vacation so I can get my INR checked midway/   I had been seeing those ladies for 9 years-- they were my friends.  They were let go with no transfer.  And now I can't get appointments when I need them either because of shortage of staff.  I was just so very sad for my friends- it's making me cry even now as I am typing.

But the day got worse-  the neurology staff had not faxed the records requested to the place where I will be getting neuro-psych testing when I called last week and when I called earlier this week.  Then I called on Thursday and talked with them and we decided I would get the record and email it to them and this staff person was going to get it done.  Well they hadn't and I was just so happy that the woman at the desk did print out the last visit notes (with errors in them done by the doctor) and a copy of a short paper test regarding memory and cognition I took a while back.

But wait, even more bad stuff, my engine light went on right after I left that office.  So I went to one auto store- aren't doing those check because of COVID (not sure why since I was seeing a store employee going into another person's car) but then I called Subaru (and I had had the car in for a day and half earlier this week for car servicing and general check) and earliest they could look at it is Monday noon.  Oh, and the first auto store told me that Firestone is still doing the checks, so I knew that was further along the street- but stopped at another auto store and also had suspended.  The Firestone on that same street didn't do them because they had a smaller service and I had to go to another one about four miles away.  They do them but it was too late and they couldn't get to it in time.  The light went off, I successfully shopped at Fresh Market for a few things- and made sure I picked up chocolate ice cream and sunflowers to make the day better.  The finally of the bad was that my hands weren't doing well and I dropped and shattered a Corelle dinner plate while making dinner.

At least the dinner was tasty and my dh was in a much better mood so we watched a crime show I had recorded.  (He will watch them with me but it isn't his preference just like I get super annoyed with most nature shows now because I hate the slow way of speaking, the wrong science often cited and the inadequate descriptions- like talking about some animal but not where the animal was or not identifying the bird, snake, fish or whatever that is on the screen---they can't do that because they are speaking about half as slowly as normal speech ).

Woke up and can't go back to sleep, on the day I could sleep in. Not sure what today holds. Need coffee. No errands or meetings today. I love that!

A walk, for sure.
Some menu planning, desperately needed.
AHG things
Tutoring prep for next week.
Tag items for consignment sale
Housework
Remind kids to do scout things.
Figure out how to have Wild Thing's library holds moved to a different library, where it is more convenient to pick them up.
Work on my mom's GrandPad. We had thought it could replace a phone and a tablet, now not so sure. She will still need a phone, I think? Call customer service!

My crock pot broke a while ago. Need to replace it. Do I want an instant pot?

Drat, I was wrong about errands:

recycle glass  Saw a friend there and got to visit a bit.

pick up Rx   But it is the wrong one! I even checked with the Doctor's office this week, on the phone. Argh. No morning med for Monday now and an extra errand to run that day too.

Oh, and car wash to clean the fermented watermelon smell out of the carpet in my car!

I'm stressed out and pressed for time, but feel like making this post will help?

This morning I ordered the cakes for the party (that took 45 minutes!) and then drove my kid to the horse barn.

Then while I was collecting myself for the day & catching up on news/calendar/emails/social media, my sister called just to chat.

So now the plan is:

  • Take a shower.
  • Pick up kid from horse barn.
  • Somewhere in there, try to review my TKD forms - I never remember when I'm supposed to shout.
  • Get uniformed and drive to TKD test.  Hopefully pass test and leave with my black belt?
  • Chill & change.  Wash hair?
  • Get a haircut.
  • Lots of client work.
  • Reschedule the maids, since we won't be home tomorrow.
  • Catch up on online church services with the kids.
  • Bills, returns, donations, and other personal stuff I've been putting off.
  • Party stuff - should probably compile a list of who's coming and maybe contact those who haven't given me their # of guests.
  • Catch up on the laundry.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Good morning!

We've had a nice stretch of cooler temperatures, but today is a hot one.

  • tidy up and declutter my neglected house - I barely got any cleaning done this week and it's a mess!
  • wipe down kitchen cabinets
  • vacuum upstairs
  • negotiate for the car I want to get
  • cut up produce
  • bathe and groom horses
  • unpack Chewy box
  • dinner: we are getting  buried in tomatoes, plus I have lots of avocados and basil - so maybe veggie sandwiches, oven fries, and slaw

On *any* day that you need to vent or just get a long distance hug, you can always message me or if you'd rather text, just ask me for the number.  I'm sorry.  That whole day stunk and was overwhelming.  We get so attached to the medical people in our lives and they really do become genuine friends.

Why is a squirrel trying to cart away one of Juliet's bones?  It's a tiny Douglas squirrel too, so that bone is as large as it is!

Fasting bloodsugars logged.  Nice number again.

fed Neko and Juliet - Neko down in the bathroom.  He hasn't thrown up so that's good.

lots of activity since ds is going back to college today - or I should say he's starting on his road trip back to college.

fed myself

medicated myself

medicated Juliet

did one exercise but need to do the rest in a bit.  Been distracted by ds and needing to hunt down things he's taking back with him.

made bed

dressed.

brushed teeth

So far:

Skipped the garage sale for lack of planning and effort - next week! 😉
Coffee
Duel
Shower
Switch laundry and put away mine
Run to farm store and pick up an order for DS so he can go fishing
Stopped at a stand and bought sweetcorn from one very fun old fella who had a beer in his hand... (it was 10:45!)
Had one of the girls run into the store for cat food

Now:
Scrub the bathroom floor.
Switch laundry again and clean bathroom rugs
Have the girls water EVERYTHING! (Please rain.)
Go out and plant lettuces and harvest kale

Nap
Supper tonight: Baked chicken and tortellinis for the gluten folk and some sort of veggie with a salad.

Do nothing.  A lot of nothing! I remembered to buy and pick up my neice's shower gift yesterday so I'm feeling remarkably prepared for tomorrow, lol.  Reminder: Figure out girls' outfits and lay them out with shoes.

Ds has been seen off on his back to college road trip.  And yes, I cried.

Finished my Upper Body PT workout.  I was able to increase the difficulty on all of the resistance exercises.  Kind of proud of myself for that.  Sometimes I wonder if I'm spinning my wheels and if I am increasing in strength at all.  Lower body has been harder to see improvements especially since the exercises even at low levels trigger a lot of pain and cramping.

logged food, water, carbs

updated Sparkpeople sleep log

I'm a black belt.  Took me almost 7 years (thank you, perimenopause).  Whew!  Now on to the next level.  I hope I will be able to test for 2nd dan in a year.

I spent a lot of time in the kitchen today. Gave the fridge a very thorough cleaning & got rid of all the almost-empty pickle jars, etc. Cut up lots of veggies for salads and sandwiches and mangos for smoothies. Juiced oranges and grapefruits, too.

Horse chores are done for the day - it was hot and yucky. Scrubbed the water buckets. Moved their sprinkler to a different location because dh is tired of water running onto the lawn.

Ordered a few things from the farm supply store and ds21 and dd will pick them up tonight.

Worked on laundry, but I have a ways to go...

Dinner is going to be fend-for-yourself. Only one of the kids will be home, and he's my nocturnal one who rarely eats at the same time as the rest of us.

Made good progress on the car negotiations.

I saw a Life is Good shirt I wanted to get for ds21, so I went to their site and ended up ordering several for myself, too. I don't even need more shirts, but they have so many cute ones...

Dinner was tomato, cucumber, green onion, hot pepper, and sprouts sandwiches. Yum!
