sheryl Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 They could not get married in NC except under extreme circumstances so we all jumped the border into SC. DH and I live in Charlotte and my niece moved here around 2014. Charlotte is about 5-10 miles from the SC border so it's not a big deal. They had a smaller crowd as some people were afraid to come with co19. Otherwise, more people would have showed up. They've dated 3 years and engaged for 2, I think. She said he was not allowed to move his stuff over until they were married. He'll move his stuff out of his apt and in to her small house over the next 2 weeks. They left today for a short honeymoon in GA but the Hurricane is supposed to skim the coast. "Bands" will be inland. Since they are going to an island, I hope this honeymoon couple will surface enough to get weather updates. They return to work as public school teachers on Thursday. Next year they will go on their original honeymoon destination of Hawaii. 5 Quote
PrincessMommy Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 (edited) Congratulations!! My daughter got married 2 weeks ago in our backyard. It was a very sweet (and short) civil ceremony with only us and her siblings. They plan to have the church service, reception, and big honeymoon next year. It is a bummer, but they’re probably doing another ceremony and honeymoon later in the year. Congrats! Right! My niece and her (now) husband had a wedding with about 40 guests. Far better than the maximum 10 headcount that would be enforced at a local chapel. However, many people didn't show b/c of co19 "what ifs". 19 hours ago, PrincessMommy said: Congratulations!! They are on an island now in GA (dodging rain maybe from the hurricane. They arrived Sunday and will return "home" Wednesday. They both start back to work Thursday. Next year they are planning on taking the honeymoon that was planned for now. But, it's hard to tell where the world will stand re: co19 next year. Will it be better, worse or the same? They planned on going to Hawaii. We'll see. 1 Quote
