Feeling the need for some calm in my life.  Does anyone have any nice pics of natural stuff that lives near or around you.

we’ve had an exceptionally good year for fungi for some reason so we are learning the names of some of them.

this is apparently called witches butter.

and just for fun here’s a frog pic as well.  I am truly bad at photography especially with my phone  it I love finding things.

the other pic is definitely not something that lives near me but from an open plain zoo we sometimes visit.

Here are a few from our place:

An ancient apple tree that is covered in pink blossoms every spring

An interesting moth - never seen one like that before

A monarch butterfly on a thistle

And a tree that was just leafing out and looked pretty against the blue sky.

I'll bite. 🙂  I LOVE nature and drag my camera around with me on the farm often.  Here are a few from the last couple of weeks.  A fox pup from this springs litter that I see wander through.  A baby raccoon looking for food one evening.  We're extra dry this year so the wildlife is out and about more than normal.  A butterfly gracing a flower, a turtle soaking in the sun.  A red squirrel chattering at me as I passed by.

First one is Lake Michigan after my picnic supper with a friend

Second one is two wild turkeys that came up to my garage last week.  They came so close the builder that was here reached down and petted one of them.

Sorry, don't know why they doubled up!  I tried to edit, but no luck.  The flowers are cactus blossoms, and the owl is a burrowing owl that was perched outside a local pizza restaurant, looking grumpy!

I love this! Only 3 species of hummingbirds are found in Florida. I've seen our most common one, the ruby throated hummer, at my firebush at the old house but was never able to get a good photo. They're so fun to watch.

The moth is actually a skipper butterfly. Not sure which exact skipper species. They hold their wings in this odd position when settled.

A mushroom on a trail, the overlook  at sunset near where my daughter and I camped (and got eaten alive by deer flys), and a waterfall at a nearby nature preserve. It had been pretty dry so the waterfall was barely flowing, but the size of the rocks always surprises me.  This week we have had lots of rain so it’s probably flowing good now.

You all are really talented photographers!

So I've always loved the sky and there have been some beautiful views lately. The cloud with the sun behind it was today, and the fire rain was yesterday.

And the caterpillar wasn't really a happy nature pic for my plants, but this same guy has traveled crazy distances each time I ditch him somewhere to come back to my garden. We are on day 4 of our dance. I've come to enjoy him, and I'm actually concerned he may not make it back for tomorrow!

I love how you worded this and have decided this is a new part of my language. It's officially my verb particular to butterfly movement. Birds fly, humans walk, and butterflies grace.

A view from a park a few miles away from us several weeks ago.  The view is towards the area I see from my house in winter when leaves are gone.  I will load more photos later after I clean my phones.

Oh, he'll be back. Or his sibling. That is a tomato hornworm and their eggs are laid en masse by a pretty, harmless looking butterfly. The Hornworm will literally decimate your plants if given the opportunity. Watch, though, for one covered in egg sacks. Those are laid by my the Tomato Hornworm Wasp and the larva feed on the caterpillar. Nature in action!

I was given an etymology correction. Free of charge. 🙄 Thinking about rehoming him.
