Tenaj Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 I discovered yesterday, that my local Aldi is finally doing pick-up. I don't know when they started but it's definitely been within the past month. I was in my happy place yesterday, virtually shopping in my favorite store. Oh, and they let me adjust the order until about two hours before my pickup time! (Kroger cuts off modification the night before at midnight and you can't change it on same day orders) Then, they got my order ready early and texted me that it was ready. I showed up and was out of the parking lot not more than 5 minutes later with my groceries. I had free pickup this time so I don't know the normal cost but it made me so happy 🙂. Their website says they have been adding stores to pick-up services quite frequently so if you had a store that wasn't doing this, you may want to check it out. 6 Quote

Ooh, it appears to be available in my area! Can you shop seasonal stuff too, or just the basics? I see it's powered by Instacart, which I've never used. Is there anything I should know about it? Fees? Quote
kbutton Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 If it's easier to use that Kroger, this might actually get used, though we do have a credit with Kroger's curbside pickup after they screwed up our one and only order we've done curbside (my DH still ended up going inside because they messed up). You do need an instant cart account but I'm pretty sure it was an Aldi employee who brought order out because I recognized him from the store. I'm not sure what the normal pickup fee is because I got a freebie this time. There was a bag fee but they used the paper bags so it was only .50 for my order and they didn't bag things like milk or vinegar. Edited July 25, 2020 by JanOH 1 Quote

I thought it was easy to use. I just visualized the store and walked through in my mind, adding things as they came to my mind -lol! I have that store memorized! There aren't as many variations as other stores so it was easier for me. I did put one kind of pickle in my cart that was the wrong thing, but they were out and subbed me with what I thought I was ordering in the first place. They even did a good job on produce but YMMV on that. 2 Quote
Beth S Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 My dd in Chicagoland thot 10% was added to the order? This Aldi pickup is separate from instacart, according to the Aldi website. Instacart is nearly everywhere, but this grocery pickup is not. https://www.aldi.us/en/pickup-delivery/grocery-pickup/curbside-grocery-pickup-locations/ Quote
Tenaj Posted July 25, 2020 Author Posted July 25, 2020 I was just playing with my Aldi's cart to experiment and it looks like a pick up fee of $3.99. No idea if that's standard or goes up if there is a larger order (or down). I just threw a few things in my cart to see what it said 🙂 2 Quote
