Dyeing my hair at home

I'm not very adventuresome really, but quarantine is inspiring me to take up new hobbies.  I just applied bleach for a "strand test."  Going to attempt to use Manic Panic and get some fun color going, assuming I can keep from accidentally bleaching the cat.

That's what I figured.  I mean, even if it's horrible, it's not like I'm going anywhere.  I mean, I have a GYN appointment in two weeks, but whatever.

I actually got four colors and am trying to convince my oldest to make me have galaxy hair.  I got purple haze, rocakbilly blue, atomic turquoise, and cotton candy pink.

So I didn't have enough bleach the first round, so I sent my husband out for more and got oldest child to apply it to the parts of my head I can't see.  We'll wait on dye till tomorrow.

According to the vet, today is actually Obama's estimated birthday.  I gave him some salmon.  

He does not appreciate the smell of bleach.

Obama's got one spot of dye on his leg.  And both the tub and my legs are stained faintly blue.  I look like I've either been performing blood sacrifice on smurfs or have insanely low oxygen levels.  

Oldest child tried to mix in the pink, but it just didn't work with the other colors, so we gave up.  I think it turned out reasonably well for first efforts on both of our parts.

Awesome! My youngest wants to dye her hair, but staining the tub is what is holding me back. I'm sure there must be a way to prevent it...? Maybe a rinse in the stainless steel kitchen sink first? Hmmmm.

I haven’t had the kahunas to dye my own yet (mine is currently half grown out platinum, aaack), but I did spring for some funky wigs!

Honestly, I don't think so.  When oldest had her hair professional dyed, pre-covid, it still stained the tub some, even with them rinsing it thoroughly there first.  But, it wasn't serious staining and disappeared over time even without scrubbing, just the normal action of showering.

It really wasn't bad, and I think if you were trying to just go all one color, it would be very easy to do yourself.  I enlisted oldest child since I was combining colors and couldn't just mash it all together, nor could I see the back.
