Liz CA Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 The large branch of one of our 2 peach trees broke today - not completely since the broken off branch is hanging on a fence. We had supported it with pieces of wood but it broke in a different spot. Ugh! There are numerous peaches the sizes of golf balls. Is there anything we can do? The branch is too heavy to prop up since it's loaded with fruit. Is the tree ruined completely? Quote
Liz CA Posted July 6, 2020 Author Posted July 6, 2020 I've been googling and it does not look good for our little tree. This was a main branch that snapped. Quote
mathnerd Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 (edited) I would suggest that you use any stretchable tape/elastic material and try to patch the tree and prop it up really well with multiple supports - the fruit will mature and then, you can chop off the broken branch and see if it regrows above the graft line. I have had it happen with my valencia orange tree and the fruit matured and the tree grew back in a year (above the graft, not from the rootstock part) Edited July 6, 2020 by mathnerd Quote
