Help us stain our house

It's been 8 years since we've stained the house and it's in need! RIght now it's kind of a disaster - mudroom is one color, house is another and we never figured out what to do with the trim (2x6 in the middle). There are also 2x6's edging each corner. 

Right now I'm thinking a more brown color for the house and mudroom and try to match. Not sure about the trim though. White? 

Other ideas? I am terrible with this stuff! Thanks!!

I'm a fan of classic, so for your house I think a nice barn-red stain with white trim would look beautiful.

Black stain with charcoal trim like your door now.

If you aren’t that bold, I would go more brown, avoiding red undertones.

Okay, we're going through this with our deck.  I feel your pain.  I've spent more on samples than I think an 5 gallon of stain will cost!!  Definitely buy some samples though.  They don't look the same on wood as they do one the chip of paper in the store.

What i am drawn too is the lighter browns for the overall and then black accents... it looks very lux (and also white will look dirty faster).

This is what my deck looks like right now.  One is dappled sunlight and one is more shady.
