serendipitous journey Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 (edited) good morning! I'm sorry to have been away a few days; things are fine here, but figuring out what my goals/accountability are/is has been more challenging than usual. This week's overarching goal is to show up generally & consistently -- across the board -- and get a sense of the shape of my responsibilities now. Today: a couple rounds of school stuff with boys, including math, some reading for history and science, and poetry memorization. E-mails to piano teacher, to volunteer organization. Work in house. Take notes about last night's RPG, including things to focus on next time and bonus credit for spending a chunk of time organizing my RPG notes/materials. Garden: get thyme + clover seeds down in my mother-in-law's area, general chores. Some piano practice for me, fitness all around. Dinner tonight: pizza galettes + berry galette for dessert, salad and fresh veggies. Your dinners inspire me, Critterfixer!!! ETA: @Critterfixer: "my calendar tells me it's Tiredsday." Yes, this! Critterfixer Posted July 8, 2020 Author Posted July 8, 2020 Morning. Happy Weirdsday. Today's goals: House: laundry, dishes, cat boxes, kitchen School: usual (going to the river tomorrow morning to boat and generally stay the heck away from people while getting out of the house) Cooking: I want pizza galettes and berry galettes. But instead I'm doing a pot roast, potatoes, some veggies, and a peach cobbler. Also prepping leftover baked chicken for soup. Writing: 2000 to 4000 words in drafting, the same in revision, personal reading. Art: still sketching. But paint comes out soon because I need it. I'm in the mood for making a mess. 2 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 (edited) Good morning! 4 hours ago, Critterfixer said: Morning. Happy Weirdsday. And to you!!! 4 hours ago, Critterfixer said: .... Cooking: I want pizza galettes and berry galettes. But instead I'm doing a pot roast, potatoes, some veggies, and a peach cobbler. Also prepping leftover baked chicken for soup. ..... This is so funny: I want a pot roast with potatoes & veggies and a peach cobbler to finish. One day maybe we can get together and cook for each other! until then, I shall live vicariously through you. Oh -- we didn't get to the salad, just peeled baby broccoli & other quick stuff. Not that a salad takes forever. I mean, you'd think the salad would be the simplest thing to get to the table. I think I couldn't handle the thought of another messy bowl at that point. Today: finish yesterday's stuff!!! Work on RPG, my players managed to capture a semi-sentient pirate ship that can scootch across the arctic landscape on skis and which I hadn't intended for them to get hold of, so I need to figure out its details and make sure that there will be some existing world wherever they take it next. Ideally with something for them to do. Also, fitness, micro school, &c. Also: catch up with DH, it's been crazy lately. Dinner will be "date-night" takeout, which DH & I eat while the boys are banished downstairs to play Minecraft or something. Edited July 8, 2020 by serendipitous journey 1 Quote
Critterfixer Posted July 10, 2020 Author Posted July 10, 2020 Morning. I think it's Friedday. I feel kind of fried. Crispy. Yesterday I didn't have power for much of the afternoon. Storms. We didn't even get a lot of rain, which wasn't nice. We'll have to water today. Today's goals: House: laundry, dishes, cat boxes, sweep, gardens School: regular Cooking: none--deal with leftovers that I couldn't deal with yesterday Writing: 3000 to 4000 words drafting, same revising, critiques that I couldn't finish yesterday, some novel feedback on a synopsis that I want to look at before working on pinch point moments. Extra: buy calcium supplement for plants 1 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Good afternoon! barely. Almost evening here. Today we did pretty well hitting our minimum school though I'll have to work on poetry memorization with them on Sunday. AND when I scheduled elder's grammar I funked it up so that I scheduled the first week of work for this week. Which, I'm noticing now that I think on it, has already passed us by. So next week we'll double up and I'll reward the poor fellow with extra time playing Minecraft or something. Tonight: mystery meat!!! I'm about to go find something to thaw and grill. Raw veggies, dip or salad if I'm inspired, popcorn later with a video if all goes well. 1 Quote
serendipitous journey Posted July 11, 2020 Posted July 11, 2020 (edited) Good morning! My role playing game (RPG) is in a "crunchy" -- ie, high in specific mechanics and rules -- system so I generally need to organize some stuff to make my games a little more open-and-go. Or at least develop a cycle of design-build-play-learn and repeat. So that I can keep it going for a while AND educate the children AND gently convince the house to be less chaotic than it is -- ideally, it would even be neat and have more bookshelves. Also: get everybody enough exercise. And: come gracefully through the current events. It's a goal. Today: for RPG: get character sheets for my players' characters so that I know their strength & capabilities & can challenge them without killing them off; print or copy combat and play tables for fumbles & critical hits for all relevant players and print off my spellcasters' spells; write 300 words for each of 2 summer camp prompts (I am in awe of your 2000+ word accomplishments, Critterfixer); draft the play options for our next game; sketch the ship my players found; spend 15-30 minutes on greater campaign design. Also: work in house (a few cleaning rounds); in garden (keep seedlings damp: AM, midday, PM); catch up with DH; get some exercise. Edited July 12, 2020 by serendipitous journey 1 Quote
