MomN
I am looking for recommendations for must-read books for SOTW 2. I have the activity book and will use those suggestions as well, but I always like to buy a couple of must-reads. What do you suggest? Thanks, Laura

EKS
These are books that I remember being particularly good. Beowulf (Morpurgo) Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Morpurgo) Castle (Macaulay)
goldenecho
For the whole thing... Illustrated Book of Myths Hardcover by Neil Philip - This just has A LOT of myths, they're beautifully illustrated and sometimes include pictures of historical items related to the myth, and they are organized by culture/country. For the section on monks and monasteries these picture books are beautiful... Caedmon's Song The Ink Garden of Brother Theophane (I also like Marguerite Makes a Book by Bruce Robertson...but Thophane relates more directly to the chapter on monks where they talk about illuminated manuscripts, and Marguerite is from a later era. You could totally do both though).
