Okay, I don't want to sound like an infomercial, but a bunch of folks were extolling the virtues of this cat toy on a facebook cat group I am on.  I got desperate because our store has been out of crunchy peanut butter for 3 weeks, so I ordered some from amazon, and on a whim and to feel less stupid, I threw this catnip banana into my cart.

Oh.  My.  Goodness.  Obama was outside when I got the envelope from the mail.  As soon as I removed it from the mailbox, he was like, "Whoo hooo!  What is THIS?" through three layers of packaging.  I unwrapped it and tossed it into the house.

Obama loves it.  He has played with it a ton.  Scout, who is 13, and has never really played much, has been sitting next to it, cuddling it and using it as a pillow.  There was just a cat dust up with some minor hissing over it.

I should have gotten the package of 3.  (Although they would certainly have continued to fight over one, I'm sure.)

Scout has been sitting on the banana for approximately five hours.  Oldest child walked by, and because feet are terrifying, she came and jumped in my lap.  She smells strongly of catnip.  And she is so stoned she can probably see into the twelfth dimension.

You gotta rotate the toys, just like with toddlers.

I mean, I hear this, but my 13 year old cat literally never plays with anything.  Obama plays with the catnip banana, hair ties that he steals, and this one tiny cheap little mint scented toy I got at Pet Smart on a whim.  That's it.  He might have played with a couple of other things as a small kitten, but even then, I don't recall him being toy oriented.  Those are all the things he has really ever played with....ever.  I mean, he goes outside, so maybe he "plays" out there, but I don't know how to rotate when there are so few things he will play with.  He has never been willing to play interactively with one of us.  Our cat, Ursula, who died a year ago, played with a wide variety of toys well into her elder years, and we did rotate toys for her (except for her beloved ferret, which was more of a lovey than a toy).  But neither of our current felines are particularly toy oriented.
