ktgrok Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 I have two cats. Initially, they hated each other. Or at least, Stripes the older orange one hated Tiny Cat. But after a while, since they were the only two of their species, they bonded. My husband would call it "hate cuddling" when they initially would lay side by side, sharing body heat. Sort of like a prison relationship, you make do, I guess? But then it progressed. Now I have to listen to Brokeback Cat Mountain two to three times a day, as Tiny Cat (who is now really big fat cat) "has his way" with Stripes, and Stripes growls and yells. I separate them, both out of concern for Stripes' apparant lack of consent and because no one wants to listen to that noise. But recently I saw that Stripes was....excited...during the action. So now I have no idea if they just like um...rough...action, or if that's an involuntary reaction and Stripes really is being abused, or what. but most of all I just wish they would stop doing it on my kitchen table!!!! 10 Quote
stephanier.1765 Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Are they neutered? That's just crazy weird. And yeah, not the kitchen table, please! At least take it to a bedroom or, even better, a motel room. 1 6 Quote
Annie G Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 I completely understand how you feel. When our cat was young he was very partial to dd’s favorite stuffed animal. He’d drag it down stairs and into the living room, where he’d have his way with it, usually when we had company. Yeah that’s a fun conversation starter. G But at least our cat didn’t perform on a kitchen table!!! 1 2 Quote
Valley Girl Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 (edited) 🙂 Well, there's an image I didn't need in my head before my second cup of coffee. Gee, thanks, Katie. Edited May 30, 2020 by Valley Girl 2 7 Quote

The other one, the victim as it were, was older - he was a stray tom cat that was neutered as part of a TNR program, then later someone took pity on, then got injured and brought to the clinic where I adopted him. He's the BEST cat. The other one...he's on my naughty list for sure. On 5/30/2020 at 10:26 AM, Valley Girl said: 🙂 Well, there's an image I didn't need in my head before my second cup of coffee. Terabith Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 My cats have not really bonded, even though they are the only members of the feline species. My younger cat, Obama, however, does some really disturbing things to his fluffy cat bed. It's apparently very....stimulating. Or comforting. I'm honestly not sure what. But it's weird. 1 Quote
Guest Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Our two young males (neutered, one very young, one at about 6 months when DD found him) have a very (ahem) special relationship. Our two neutered females want nothing to do with them. 1 Quote

SounderChick Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I have no help for you but my whole family got a good laugh. 1 Quote
trulycrabby Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 My neutered cat gets ds16’s dirty clothes, drags them around the house while meowing constantly, then settles down and has an intimate session with them. He adores my 110-lb Great Pyrenees, and often tries to get romantic with the long fur at the end of her tail. “Big Fluffy,” just grumbles a bit and goes back to sleep. 1 2 Quote

Pen Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I would tend to separate them actually. I’d tend to think It is very likely an involuntary reaction and the noise is evidence that Stripes is not happy. If when separated Stripes seeks out the other cat maybe he does like it. But hmmm I am thinking about this as I am about to remove my cat who is kneading my dog with her claws out which he doesn’t like. 2 Quote
MercyA Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Argh, whoever you are, stop downvoting Katie's threads. Or man / woman up and confess that you are the one doing it. (Yes, yes, I know this happens by mistake sometimes, but it's been happening a lot lately.) 1 1 Quote

Same cat DOES carry clothes around, meowing! He gets into the kids' closet, jumps up on the dresser in there, and tears things off the hangers to drag around the house. He does not, however, have um, inappropriate actions with them, other than that, thankfully. On 6/2/2020 at 1:28 AM, Pen said: I would tend to separate them actually. Partly because of poor Stripes and partly because no one wants to listen to all that growling and hissing and who knows what! Quote
