TheReader Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Good morning! To do: --coffee --co-op Open House followed by teacher end of year meeting/luncheon (hope I am not the only one in a mask, but I have a LOT of talking I do, so it would be irresponsible of me not to mask up) (luckily I am wearing it often enough that I am quite skilled at enunciating clearly even through the mask, even over the phone, so.....) --kids are having their very small, very socially distanced D&D gathering at our house today (we would not allow, but is only comprised of 2 sibling pairs besides our boys, so even though it is 6 people, we can treat their social distance space like it's only 3 people) --I still have to do laundry --dinner will be pizza ordered/leftover from the pizzas ordered at lunch (ordering one x-large per sibling pair, NO SHARING between pizzas, just in case) --positively a nap when I get back from my Open House stuff --TV tonight? video games? With DS22 *not* leaving to camp this weekend, we have time to spread out our TV watching after all, so......? 4 Quote

Selkie Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Good morning! Done: fed animals & dh started laundry took a shower texted a happy Butterscotch progress report to farrier (still a tiny bit lame, but almost back to normal - and feeling good enough to gallop all over the place!) closed the pasture gates (we're supposed to get a couple more inches of rain today & the hillside will be slippery) scooped front yard put a package out for UPS pickup (Ds19 discovered he had accidentally brought home a small cord that belonged to the school. He asked if they could just bill him for it to avoid the trouble and expense of sending it back. They said it would be $30, for a cord that costs less than $5 at Walmart. So the cord is boxed up and getting sent back!) To do: fill hummingbird feeder office work - so much to do... post office pay property taxes? Need to check on this. Several weeks ago, I read somewhere (local paper? Facebook?) that because of the pandemic, the due date had been moved from June 1 to Sept. 1 , but I can't find verification of that anywhere and other people are equally confused about it. sweep main floor Schwan's delivery wrap dd's birthday presents speaking of dd, she has a Very Important college interview phone call today - she has decided to take a gap year & has changed her mind on where she wants to go, and is hoping to get into a school that is pretty selective 🤞🤞🤞 dinner: ?? 4 Quote

TheReader Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Selkie, prayers for your dd's college interview thing. Home from my co-op Open House; that went well. Small numbers, but good visits (I had 3 families, representing 5 kiddos, stop by and talk about my classes). Heard from our directors what the plans are for our campus in the fall (basically, business as usual, and if we personally want to institute more stringent guidelines ourselves, we can). Chatted with some moms and other teachers about my plans and they feel that I have a good handle on things. The D&D kids are here, hopefully following all the social distancing rules. The other parents both said we've gone "above and beyond" what they'd have expected, so that's good. I told them both "Look, these are not my children, and I'll be danged if they get sick on my watch." (if I can help it, anyway). Will save laundry for tonight when the teens are gone, which means I have the afternoon to do some prep for next year, relax, veg out, etc. 2 1 Quote
TheReader Posted May 28, 2020 Posted May 28, 2020 Oh, and only 4 other teachers (plus me) were masked that I saw, and only 1 parent, but we did have good social distancing in place. 4 Quote

Jean in Newcastle Posted May 28, 2020 Author Posted May 28, 2020 Stopped off at another grocery store that tends to have special dietary stuff but they didn't have the Vegan "Parmesan" that I wanted. But I picked up some garlic sauce that I really like and can totally change the recipe and it will still come out yummy! Stopped at the Starbucks kiosk while I was at it and got a Guava White Tea (with half the sugar). 4 Quote
TheReader Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Holy cow, I just wrote up a list of the kids who've expressed interest in my class but haven't yet registered, arranged by "probably" and "maybe" and there's actually the potential for all 3 to fill to capacity. With just the "probably"s added to the "already registered"s it would total just over my current (2-class) enrollment, spread over 3 classes (which actually wouldn't be horrible, what with trying to social distance kiddos), which is pretty awesome, too. But if the "maybes" were to all sign up, I'd have ONE empty spot between all three classes. Wowza. (I think for sure some of the maybes won't, but still....) (also, I get one or two each year with no prior contact) (oh, also, I just realized there's another probably I didn't write down, which means one would be over capacity if they all tried to register. Holy moly......) 3 Quote
