Good morning! I love my early morning quiet house all to myself. Enjoying reading, coffee, and sunshine.

  • Meet my tutoring director to learn new curriculum for a new student.
  • Electronic chores
  • Send an AHG email
  • Tutoring prep
  • Plant a flower and weed a bed.
  • Go to nearby natural area/park to walk.
  • Order paracord for dd
  • Check into Epix free trial so we can watch the last 4 episodes of Belgravia. The first two were free on Amazon Prime.
  • Dinner is whatever we have. Soup and salad and quesadillas.
  • Grocery shopping? Would like to hold off til tomorrow. Using up what we have!
  • Remind kids to do things.

Good morning! The sun is out but it will stay in the mid 60s today. I am going to spend time in the garden, read,  maybe a few things in the house. Later, I might sew.

Not sure what anyone else has planned- but there you go.

Have a very nice Memorial Day!

@Selkie No snake sightings today?

He is back again! I guess we have ourselves a snake, because he is determined to stay. Ds21's friend, who is a biology major/snake person, confirmed that it is an eastern milk snake. I am trying to be okay with the situation and have so far been successful in suppressing the urge to run away screaming at the top of my lungs.😬

Selkie, I wouldn't try to be okay with the situation, so you're better than me!

Done: bible study groups, coffee and breakfast, work on chemistry class lab and supply list, lunch, saw ds off with girlfriend

To Do:

  • maybe a quick nap
  • nature trail walk
  • leftovers for dinner
  • play a game and/or watch something

Washed, dried and put away dishes, knives and pans.

Wiped down counters, stove and microwave.

Wiped down a couple of cabinet doors.

Was talking to my elderly friend (the boss I had when I was in college - ahem - 35 plus years ago) but she got another call.  She said that she'd call me back.

You have way more self-control than me! Snakes - any kind - give me extreme heebie jeebies.

It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK, which is sort of equivalent to a North American Labor Day. I gave the kids the day off schoolwork and went out to potter in the garden.

Feeling quite achieved.. I managed to give the trees along the side of the driveway a trim, so that we will no longer get out of our cars into holly branches and wild rose claws;

Planted up a hanging basket with sweet pea seeds, fingers crossed they will germinate okay;

Helped DD20 plant up another couple of hanging baskets with flowers that she had chosen from the garden centre last week;

Watered all of the remaining potted flowers and the seedlings I carefully started 2-3 weeks ago;

Planted the strawberry plants in a pot and put it out of temptation's reach in the front yard (one of our dogs loves to dig up our pots, so we have gated the front yard to prevent her from ruining them);

Had a chat with DD12, who is struggling with lockdown and teenage hormones. DS14 seems to be coping a little better;

Went for a walk with DH in the evening just as the light was falling, which was really special as we don't often get the chance to do little things like that.

I really hope I am not going to feel utterly wrecked tomorrow as a result of today's activity! Hope y'all are well and happy. 💜

Made dinner

washed up the dinner making pans etc.

did some filing.

My friend/former boss called me back.  We had a nice long and lovely visit.  She's finding lockdown a bit boring but it helped to have our phone visit, I think.
