How long for Covid test results?

Recommended Posts

My FIL is in the hospital for something different and was tested today because we found out that last week he was released from a nursing home that just had an outbreak.  I'm worried about him and my MIL and also DH, who has been around them.

I had my blood drawn late on a Thursday afternoon, and they said they would call on the Saturday if it was positive.

Blood?  Are you thinking of an antibody test instead of a COVID test?

It depends on whether the hospital administering the test is running their own labs.  In my area, people getting tested by hospitals running their own results are now getting results back within 24 hours except on Sunday.  If it's sent out, 48 hours.  (In the beginning, the waits were up to 5 days.)

Holding your FIL in the light.

Really depends on locale and labs involved.   I know people who have waited as long as 12 days.  Seems to be 1-3 for most now.  The average incubation period is 5-6 days so if he has been out long than that, you may be able to relax a little.  Hope you hear soon.

Oh shoot, sorry, I had both done, lol. I should have said they poked my brain with a Q-tip on Thursday afternoon and said they would call on Saturday if positive.
