  • office work - go through credit card bills
  • post office
  • unpack produce boxes

Happy Friday!

Besides the "big project" that I've been working on (promised a week ago, now about 99% done I think), today is a "deadline day" - quarterly reports due, nonprofit tax filings, and other stuff.

Done:

  • Some internet and work stuff in the wee hours.
  • Slept about 5 hours, got up early to work.
  • A little cleaning.
  • Caught up on news, emails, electronic school stuff, calendar, and social media.
  • Working on coffee 1.

To do:

  • Many work reports.
  • Wake kids by 9:30 as they have a Zoom at 10.
  • A little reading & more housework.
  • Make kids finish all their Friday work, exercise, music practice, reading.
  • Pay bills.
  • Make health appointments?
  • Yoga, TKD practice, walking.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Jen, is your state having district and state swim meets? Our state has cancelled them all for this year. I'm really bummed for ds. I haven't told him yet.

Breakfast is done as well as some calls about math tutoring next year.

  • lunch and dinner
  • school with ds
  • pick up new patio chairs at Home Depot (new umbrella arrives today)
  • bank
  • thrift stores to look for a patio table I might can fix up (IKEA wants $99 to ship the one I want from them. That's more than the table costs.)

Amy, we haven't had any official announcements but since there won't be sectional or national meets- we are assuming no meets.  And none will be certified anyway -says USA swimming.
We are short on outdoor training pools - so pools are very slow to get approved to open.

Right now only seniors and college swimmers who paid their dues and did the USA safe sport certification are training at this private pool 3x times a week for 1hour sessions.
Not even close to adequate but better than nothing.

Re. pools and swimming, the announcement was just made yesterday that our community pool will be closed for all of 2020. They said that after careful consideration, there was no way they could safely make it work.

Got done with our vet appt., which took a couple hours.

Came in to cool down and eat lunch. Our temps have gone from well below freezing to hot and muggy in just a few days.

Need to pay a couple bills now and send a kid to the post office. Then I'm tackling my messy kitchen.

Margaret, I'm sorry you're having those issues with Scouts. I understand and have a lot of the same questions concerning our co-op.

We decided to take Daddy up to the nature trail we like to walk. He really enjoyed it. We picked up the new patio chairs, too.

Selkie, it is easy to open a pool for training.   Very, very hard to allow open swim and water parks. Lots of pools are mostly water slides and shallow entry pools.

Teams will pay for lanes. We are paying a premium of $200 a month over our regular dues for access to this pool.

Oh, I wasn't commenting on swim teams using the pool - I'm sure that is a much different situation. Swim teams aren't common here and I don't know a thing about them. I just brought it up because the pool being closed has been a hot topic of local conversation. Some people are very upset about the decision. One guy (in all seriousness) said the pool needs to be open because how else are people going to get their Vitamin D??

I am thankful that our pool (private) has figured out ways to comply with regulations. My boy NEEDS the exercise and the social time. He is not a competitive swimmer.

Swim team practices are broken up into smaller groups with some time between each practice; fewer kids per lane; in/out gates to the pool area;  kids assigned a place on the deck to be when not in the water; no free play at the pool during practice (the team will  use all the lanes); practice directions written on boards, like year round teams do, so that coaches don't have to yell to give directions to a group; no kickboards. Etc. Plus all the expected surface cleaning.

For regular pool use: limit on the number of people in the pool area (online reservations for a certain number of 2-3 hr blocks per week); groups of chairs spaced apart; no moving the chairs or moving from one set of chairs to another; touchless payment at the grill; limits on how many people in the restrooms at a time; no horseplay or touching people not in your group; no parties or guests etc.

Thankfully, this pool has a large deck and yard with lots of shade, so there is space to use. Will it be a fun summer, probably not, but right now, I'll take what I can get! Sunshine, structure, people, and exercise are all excellent!
