I had never heard of this before, but I instantly recognized it - before listening to her explanation - as one of my grandmother's tricks/mind-games.

"future-faking".  promising things in the future (that never materialize), to control the now.

 

Her youtube channel is "doctorramani" and she specializes in narcissism.  she's has some really insightful videos.

I love her. Richard Gannan (sp?) helped me understand myself, Dr. Ramani helped me understand my family.
