Does anyone have a newer wireless router that is very reliable for gaming, streaming, etc but also has parental controls?  I want to be able to turn off the internet to the kids stuff at night.

I’m no expert, but since no one else has responded, I will give it a try.

i have found that software based parental controls can often be interrupted by tech savvy kids, and I am not tech savvy enough to keep up, so the physical option works best for us.

When we have issue, I just unplug the router. If you are wanting to limit access for certain family members, but not for others, I would get a second router that is hardwired to the first one. They would each have different passwords. Give the kids the password for the 2nd router, and keep the 1st router password secret. When you want to turn the kids off, you can turn off or unplug the 2nd router.

That is a good idea.   Kids are way more tech savvy than I am.  Mine even have cognitive impairments and are still way smarter than I am.

I don't want them on the internet all night long.....or maybe even during chore time 😀

We have the Deco M5.

Each device has a profile and I can set time limits, bed times, and on times for each profile.  I can also just shut one or more devices off at any time from the app  very handy! Each profile also has a generic child, teen, adult type plus I can restrict or allow certain websites like Facebook or something very specific. I can see what they’ve been on, though every cookie and ad pop up shows on the list too as visited so that can be a bit confusing until you get used to it.  I love it!

Can they get around it?  I have qustudio and a work around has not been found 🤔

Well, it wouldn’t work if they were on someone else’s WiFi or internet.  The app/router is just for ours.

It seems to work well.  They (teenagers) come find me when they want extra internet time or need access to a certain site I’ve blocked.  So it doesn’t seem like they can get around it. They do find other sites that I haven’t blocked 🙄. But I can see them and tell them to knock it off if they’re on a site they shouldn’t be then. (Goofing off during school) Their computer time is mainly meant for school.

I also love the ability to say- sure, I’ll turn on your internet after you eat/clean up/run the trash out or whatever it is they were supposed to have done.  😂

the app is only on my phone and accessible by me.
