MysteryJen Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Happy Mother's Day! dh dropped off gifts for his mother and mine yesterday. ds1 just called and he was called in to work (hallelujah!) as the restaurant opened up last week and they need all hands on deck for Mother's Day. He also finally heard from the unemployment office and will be getting a lump sum of back pay. So he is set for the summer. And he is so happy to get back to work. Our coaches found a private pool that got permission to open- so dd2 practiced yesterday and will practice again this morning. The tennis courts re-opened yesterday. Things are bouncing back a little at a time. dd1's iternship went to completely virtual- but at least not cancelled. She is disappointed but feels fortunate as well. I have nothing planned- call my mom later (she has a Zoom church meeting) and enjoy the sunshine- but cool- day. Have a great day! 5 Quote

mom31257 Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone enjoys it! Jen, our city might not open the public pool at all. Our team hasn't found another location yet. I found another team that's a good 45 minute drive away. We'll take ds to that team for at least the summer if that's the only way he can keep swimming. Dd came home just in time for ds' 17th birthday on Thursday. She's still here, so it's nice having her home. When she goes back, she's off orientation, so she can be put on call if there aren't enough patients. I don't want people to be sick, but I want her to be able to pay her bills. I feel guilty hoping there will be enough. Dd made breakfast, and dh is gone to get lunch. We're going to play games and go walk on a local nature trail. My gift is new patio furniture, but some of it has to be ordered, so it will come in later. 5 Quote
Selkie Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 I worked in the kitchen all afternoon. After getting soaked in the cold rain doing horse chores, I didn't mind being in my cozy, warm kitchen.🙂 Roasted broccoli, broccolini, mushrooms, beets, parsnips, and poblano peppers Made a big bowl of pico de gallo Cut up cukes, watermelon, and orange slices Chopped and froze kale, jalapeños, celery, and herbs My fingers are burning from handling peppers. I always think I don't need to wear gloves, and I always regret it. *sigh* 3 Quote
ScoutTN Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 We had a nice breakfast and Zoom worship thus morning. I talked to my mom. This afternoon, we've been to visit my MIL (sitting outside, properly distanced), dropped gifts at my mom's place, and decided what to get for dinner. Dd and I walked the dog and talked about books. Next up: remind dh to go get dinner, watch tv with kids, listen to a podcast or read. I'm finding Crime and Punishment heavy and disturbing, so no reading that in the evenings. I need to choose something from my 20 for 2020 list. 3 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 (edited) So I woke up with the ankle I sprained in February hurting. I looked down and it is all swollen again. had online church. dd picked up a special lunch from a gluten free restaurant. afterwards dh and I did a bit of car exploration. We took our masks so that we could go into a garden store for supplies and Starbucks for a drink to go. had the rest of my lunch for dinner. now I am taking Juliet for a walk on my swollen ankle which might be a mistake Edited May 11, 2020 by Jean in Newcastle Typo 4 Quote

ScoutTN Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Just now, Jean in Newcastle said: I sprained it in February falling down the stairs. As far as I know I haven’t done anything new to it. I remember when you hurt it before. Do you think generally not feeling well and inflammation could be causing the renewed pain? 2 Quote

Do you think generally not feeling well and inflammation could be causing the renewed pain? It’s hard to say. It’s been hot suddenly and I tend to swell in the heat. So I initially thought it was just that. But the ankle looks much like it did when I first sprained it minus the bruising. 2 1 Quote
TravelingChris Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 I am having a lousy Mother's Day but at least 10 times better than last years. Since the boards were down yesterday, I couldn't update you all--- I fell on Friday in my office. I have a huge bruise on my right knee and upper part of lower leg. But what is worse, I injured my shoulder/arm/rib/something in my right arm. It meant I missed going on a very nice kayaking trip yesterday with my son and husband. I am taking pain killers every 4 hours and it is not helping enough. It means I need to go see my primary care tomorrow--- I may have broken something or at least I need stronger pain killers or something. I can't have bad pain because it raises my blood pressure to bad levels. The day got better, Right before dinner, the kids got nicer and so did my husband. Dinner was tasty and so was the delicious cake my dd2 made. Then I got a few gifts- but I am peeved that my dh gave me nothing and nothing for my nameday either-- I have to buy my own gifts now. 5 Quote
