There is a very low chance they would contract the virus from books.  The virus doesn't live very long on cardboard. 

If they or you are very worried, have them leave the Amazon package in the garage for 24 hours, and then bring it in the house. If that is not possible, tell them to wipe down the box before bringing it inside or open the box outside and discard it. Then come inside and wash hands. 

Do they have a kindle? You could send them ebooks to read.
