Ali in OR Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 Work is stressing me out. My job is to try to get as many kids to pass Algebra as possible. We have a lot of kids who do fine with personal support--I help in class, they are assigned to extra study hall type classes where I also help. Now we have so many students who haven't even checked in, many who can't figure out Khan academy, a teacher whose main strength is personal relationships and not planning or organization. We can't just give kids a pass for Algebra 1 if they accomplish nothing after March 12. The ones doing something won't have a super strong Alg 1 background, but they'll have something they can build on in future years. For a lot of kids who need help and don't have it at home, this is really messing up their future paths. And what to do next year is all pretty murky too. Will we be in school in September? Will we have to go back to distance learning for future waves of pandemic? Sorry--work is just eating at me right now. I think I have to not overwork my hours, be as supportive as I can but not carry all this weight. Today: 1) Exercise done 2) 70° today! I'm wearing cropped jeans and no socks! Of course it's still cold right now, so I'll be bundled in a sweatshirt and blanket too. 3) Got all my fabric ironed. I would like to make a mask for dh today out of the little bit of manly fabric I have. And I need a second one. Maybe get others cut out and prepped. 4) Laundry day. 5) Grilled teriyaki chicken thighs, rice, pineapple for dinner. Maybe I'll make some muffins too. Oh, and no tonsillectomy yet for dd. Her tonsils looked fine at ENT yesterday. He thinks she's probably getting viral tonsillitis, maybe a recurring virus that hopefully just goes away. If it keeps coming back, then tonsillectomy is still a possibility for the future. 1 Quote

Ausmumof3 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Just realised I posted in the wrong thread. Quote

I have real trouble remembering what day it is anyway, so the wrong date didn't phase me in the slightest. Well yeah and I’m in Aus so the days never line up anyway. 🙂 Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 Anyway so far today we’ve done most of school school. Math. Started writing with skill with my oldest two. They were about as impressed as I expected. Lol. But they have been having very loose writing assignments for a while. We’ve been listening to the Andrew Peterson read along instead of morning time which we all somewhat enjoy although it’s slightly ridiculous at times. cleaned a stinky incubator and moved some eggs. Fed pets. (Still need to do budgies and chickens) hung washing out and cleaned the kitchen a bit. So much cleaning! I still have to pick up a parcel, do some history, pick up our fruit and veg box and cook roast chicken for dinner. I’ve also been trying to do a sport or hike with the kids each afternoon to stop us turning into blobs. And I’m trying to spend half hour or so tackling whatever the messiest part of the house is. I think it’s still ds8 bedroom so I guess that’s where it’s at today. 2 Quote
