Janeway
If you did not continue Singapore Math through 6B, when did you stop and go on to something else, and what did you go on to? I know there was a thread on this a long time back, but I cannot seem to find it. Thanks!
daijobu
IIRC I stopped at the end of level 5 (US edition) and then moved to AoPS Prealgebra. It was pretty seamless.
Monica_in_Switzerland
We also stopped at the end of 5B (standards) and went on to AOPS Pre-Algebra. I did do some ad-lib lessons on powers and negative numbers, as there is not a ton in SM5 about them. This was for a strong math student. My second kiddo is juuuuust about to do the same. She probably has a month left of 5B.
MamaSprout
We did sections of Math Mammoth 6 and then Derek Owens PreAlgebra. Depends on the kid.
....
We agonized over that all week last week and decided to just keep going with Dimensions Math (which is basically SM with a different name). They go to level 8B, which is supposed to cover Algebra 1 and Geometry. We're just going to go through it slowly. It's her favorite math curriculum. I hate to switch. happypamama
We stopped at the end of 5B and moved on to AOPS Prealgebra but took it slowly over a couple of years, starting in 6th grade and finishing in 7th. (That was also the year we had a preemie in the NICU who eventually died, so we didn't keep a great pace for a lot of that year.)
