Murphy101 Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I’m paying for yesterday’s biohazard exposure. Woke up with extra horrid headache and watery eyes. But otherwise slept okay considering I had really weird dreams. Does anyone else have the kind of dreams where even though you slept hard the dream was so exhausting that you wake up tired? Today is Good Friday. There will be at home Stations of the cross, Divine Mercy Novena and litany. No meat and fasting. No school work today. But I will make some more masks, cleaning and food prep for Easter feast. I’ll start the pies and boil eggs for deviled eggs. Set meat in fridge to thaw by Sunday. Sprouts flubbed almost my entire order. Either replaced or canceled over half of it. And I didn’t have a chance to approve the replacements before I got a notification saying they were done shopping and on the way. First time delivery went off. Aldi is supposed to be here between 10-noon but hasn’t started shopping yet. After Sprouts I’m a bit nervous about my Aldi order. Usually they start shopping an hour before my delivery time. 1 Quote
Ali in OR Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 My early morning dreams are weird--usually a backdrop of Covid-19, but twisted and not matching reality. And I just finished reading a paranormal mystery, so this morning's dream included me being chased by a bad guy, but I could fly (he could too), and I was able to evade him in a small forest. Yeah, that's useful problem solving for real life. We will have a Zoom Good Friday service tonight, but I'm sad to not have the real thing. It's one of my favorite services of the year. We sing two of my favorite hymns, O Sacred Head Now Wounded and Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted, and it's not like you get to sing those two at other times during the year. I love the somberness of the service, feeling the weight of your sin. Such a contrast to Easter, and it makes the joy of Easter that much greater. Anyway, my dh isn't too bad on the piano, so I told him he'll have to play the hymns for me! And we'll still do the service and snuff out 7 candles during it which the girls will like doing. Other stuff today: 1) 4 hours of work. And I have plenty to keep me busy. 2) They did not give dd an antibiotic yesterday. Rapid strep test was negative. Duh. I could have told them that. It's a NON-STREP bacteria. Dd had to go in by herself and she just kind of goes with the flow, so we have to call today to find out if they're doing a longer culture or what. They're referring her to an ENT (she saw one in March down in CA, but her tonsils looked fine then), and the pediatrician said she may need a tonsillectomy. Around here, the hospital is half empty (they do have like 3 Covid-19 patients) and healthcare providers are idle because everything elective is cancelled and we haven't really had a surge yet. SIP is working. So we'll see what the ENT says--the pediatrician said they may say tonsillectomy is not elective. 3) No fasting here. We'll grill hamburgers tonight, a little early so everything is cleaned up before church. 1 Quote
JustEm Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Today is starting off pretty well aside from ds7 who had a meltdown over tearing up paper for paper machete. I'm gonna assume that was just emotions boiling over and not really about newspaper. He's better now and is happily making a pinata with dh. Today we finish the boys room and continue constructing raviolis for Easter. It is a long process since we make hundreds. This year I'll be delivering them to my 3 siblings who are local. I also want to finish reading the book I've been reading and do an hour or so of writing. 2 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 We are working and schooling today. I am working on some side projects while I sit with ds through school. I haven’t even gotten around to planning Easter other than I bought stuff for the kids’ baskets back in February. I am in a funk about this. I need to let some expectations go and give myself some grace but it is hard. 1 Quote
historically accurate Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Today was ok. School went well. My youngest did a zoom meeting with her youth group small group. It was nice in that they included her best friend who moved to AZ recently. She's had kind of a down week. We did the minimum chores and just had a quiet day today. I sanitized all of the groceries, and then I delivered brother's groceries. While I was out, I picked up a prescription. We watched a lot of trash TV today - youngest watching Cutthroat Kitchen, middle watching Under the Dome (which she says is the best lockdown miniseries), oldest watched all the late night "news comedy" shows. I read a little bit and worked on an art project. I also ordered some baby items for a friend's baby shower, which has been changed to online conversation and amazon delivery of gifts. So weird. DH's work changed all of the rules again, so we're going to share some of the masks we just bought with his co-workers. He will go in tomorrow while the building is quieter to work on some computers. I'm just so thankful he still has a job, but the ever-changing rules are about to drive him nuts. And since he can't complain about it to his co-workers, I get to hear about it. We're gonna finish the evening with Uno Flip (DD's birthday gift last month) and some Narrowboat on Amazon Prime. 1 Quote
Emba Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Realized after I had all the kids start math that today was Good Friday, and the public school teachers hadn’t given any work. But we were behind in math and so I made them all do it (well, youngest chose to - he likes the computer math program the ps is using). Middle son had to correct a lot from yesterday so was predictably grumpy about it but we powered through and he eventually started acting human again. Then I just had them watch a Crocodile Hunter for science and we did poetry tea for language arts and called it a day. i did get masks made for DS, my brother and my SIL yesterday. Mailed DB and SIL’s this afternoon on the way to the grocery store. Took way too long at the store, but at least people were distancing and I found everything I wanted but SPam. I made spam fried rice the other night on a whim, and DH said he really hoped we’d have it again. It was surprisingly good. Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Officially a sucky day here. Realised I missed my sisters birthday completely. Kinda doesn’t feel worth checking the calendar right now. And now our dog is missing. I had thought he was with my dh out in the paddock all afternoon and he wasn’t. Last time anyone remembers seeing him was 10 this morning. He doesn’t usually wander far. We do live close to a main road and have had another dog picked up before. Because our house is set back and not visible to the road they took him to the vet. Being Easter weekend means very difficult to call or contact anyone. 1 Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 1 hour ago, Happymomof1 said: Hope you find him soon!!!!! 15 years ago our border collie ran away during a thunderstorm. We finally found him at a vet an hour away a week later. He ran a long, long way. Praying you find him soon! Oh wow. Ours is a border too and he could run miles. He doesn’t tend to. Someone was shooting around here earlier and he’s scared of gun shots. Normally he just hides in the laundry though. Thanks for your thoughts. Quote
