Murphy101 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Placed an order with Walmart, Sprouts and Aldi last night for delivery Saturday am. The usual mask sewing, house cleaning and math school work. It’s Maudy Thursday. I just can’t seem to get any enthusiasm for Easter this year, which is unusual bc Easter is my favorite holiday. Tonight we are picking up a “used” pool. Guy of a friend says he used it once and then packed it back up in the box. So I’m sending some sons in the truck to pick it up. Might be a yard project for the next month. I miss my pool that we used to have. It’s free, no loss to see if it really is like new condition. Who knows when I could set it up and use it though. Stupid bipolar weather with temps going from back and forth from 36° to 85° every 12-24 hours. 7 Quote
historically accurate Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 It's supposed to be pretty cold today, but the sun is shining, so that's nice. With the 70 degree weather yesterday, I was able to clear out some more of the garden. I will take the leaf bags to the park's disposal area today so we can keep the garage somewhat cleared out. I need to finish laundering the sheets today - only got to the kids' beds yesterday. Also want to get to the bathrooms today. I was able to get a pickup at Walmart for groceries tonight; we will see what arrives. Hopefully, this will be a full order because CV19 is starting to really ramp up here and I'd like to not have to go to the grocery store for a while. Part of my order is my brother's so tomorrow's job will be sanitize and sort and deliver to him. A friend of mine dropped off 3 masks to us yesterday - we bartered with a box of fabric we had here that the kids weren't going to use. So she can keep making some masks. It will be a fairly quiet day here. Oldest has a meeting with her NASA group this afternoon. Youngest has a Mandarin class this morning. DH has a couple of meetings for work as well. Middle is on the fence about whether she wants to do TKD via Zoom, but that's an option for her this evening. It's going to be interesting making sure everyone gets their stuff done at the correct time. 4 Quote
Ali in OR Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Didn't sleep great. Had weird Covid-19 dreams--something about running out of eggs! And so far our stores have still had eggs--more expensive, but not limiting. I decided yesterday that my days feel busier than before shelter in place. When there was no school the first two weeks, I had more time to read or make masks. Now, even working only 4 hours instead of 6.5, I feel busier. I have to do all the care for my disabled dd (hired caregivers do that when I'm at school), plus take care of the house, make real meals, etc. I'm tired. I have to take college kid to the doctor today for what looks like a third bout of bacterial tonsillitis this winter. I was really hoping this wouldn't come back. She knows the symptoms though--painful, inflamed tonsils. Apparently she felt it coming on Monday but didn't mention anything until late yesterday. We got an appointment for today. She needs to wear a mask (good thing I made one for her--other dds don't have one yet), go in by herself, go in a different entrance, appointments in afternoon only. Then I'm assuming we'll need to hit a pharmacy afterward for antibiotics. This all raises my anxiety up a notch. If this keeps happening, eventually it's probably tonsils out. Not a good time for that. Other for today: 1) Laundry day! Oh joy! 2) Work, but I did over 5 hours yesterday so I won't feel bad if I do just 3 today 3) 75° today! Was going to grill hamburgers, but with the late afternoon appointment will make waffles instead. And bacon. And thawing out some frozen strawberries. 2 Quote
JustEm Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I woke up at 8am long enough to feed the baby, eat breakfast, drink coffee, spend a bit of time with each kid, and then I fell asleep on the couch until noon! I guess my body needed a catch up day. The kids and dh got school done before I woke up a second time! DD has been in the kitchen ever since making bread with my dad. Staying home these last few weeks has made me even more happy that my parents moved in with us last year. My children have such a stronger bond with them than they had and before it was pretty strong because we saw them twice a week. My poor mil missing the kids so much, she usually bends over backwards to see them once a week. So, we'll likely try to Zoom with her today. Other than that I have to pickup an order from Walmart, we will continue deep cleaning the girl's room and start the boys room. Then I really want to get a solid 2 hours of writing in once the kids are settled in bed 4 Quote
Emba Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Got a walk in around 9:30 this morning. School is going well for everyone. The boys found a centipede this morning and are very excited about keeping it in a jar. I need to make masks today so I can mail them tomorrow. I’ve stripped the sheets off of my bed and need to replace them. I have a huge pile of dishes to wash. These are my big goals for the day. 3 Quote
SounderChick Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Took the Dog to the vet which is a very weird experience right now. Basically drive up you take the dog out and secure them, get back in your car the vet tech comes and gets the dog, they call you with any questions and to give you directions than do the whole thing in reverse to get your dog back. Got a wine delivery. Washing cars. Christian passover dinner tonight which will be weird and different without the group and I couldn't get the normal things. 3 Quote

prairiewindmomma Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I transferred my seedlings to bigger pots today....tomatoes, peppers, squash, basil... I'd love to get them out in the ground, but our temperatures are still swinging too widely. I'm being brave growing squash in pots rather than planting directly, but I have some extra seeds just in case. I'm dragging kids through school. I am labeling photos. I bought some nice Staedtler Lumocolor permanent markers with a .4mm tip. I REALLY like them. No smudge, almost instant drying, and it can handle the plastic-y back on some photos. 5 Quote
Murphy101 Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 I ended up getting a lot done today! I’ve reached the point where if my fabric is already cut, it only takes me 10 minutes or less to make a mask now. So I got a really good batch in a few hours. Then I trimmed and edged the front and back yard, pruned some bushes and taught a different kid to mow, to the delight of a kid currently doing the chore. And broke my quarantine to have a drive they burger date with dh. I finally finished weaving all the ends on all 121 crochet squares! Soon I’ll get started crocheting all the squares together. 4 Quote
JustEm Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Dealing with the seasonal clothing swapping is such a big process with 6 kids. They put all their own laundry away so I don't see their dressers other than twice a year when I swap out clothes. No wonder they never think they have clothes. I would wear the same three things over and over again if I had to deal with the mess of their dressers and closets. We should be done that process tomorrow morning. 2 Quote
