hs03842 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 (edited) I am looking for a math curriculum that has a more traditional lesson format (direct instruction, guided practice, independent practice with concrete/manipulative activities embedded). What do you suggest? Edited December 9, 2020 by JoyKM Quote

Ellie Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 (edited) Rod and Staff Publishers. The first three years are dependent on the scripted oral class time in the excellent teacher manuals. You teach for about, oh, 10 or 15 minutes, then you give your dc the seatwork assignment. R&S is a very traditional, Mennonite publisher, but don't be put off by its plain-Jane look: it is stealth rigor. 🙂 Many members here have reported that their children went on to algebra after having completed R&S math through 7th or 8th grade. It is very difficult to find the teacher editions of public school materials. Edited April 11, 2020 by Ellie 1 Quote
Rosie_0801 Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Do you need to swap curricula or supplement with something a bit quirkier? Quote

kiwik Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 The CK12 free kindle books follow that formula. Real life example, teaching with examples to to work through, conclusion of real life problem, independent practice. Quote
