busymama7 Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I have two issues that don't warrant the risk of going to the doctor but are sure annoying. I have a couple of VERY itchy spots on my skin. This has been going on for weeks/months. No visible rashes really. One spot looks very very slightly red. When it gets super itchy it sometimes feels raised but you cant see it. I do get small sores from scratching even though I really try not to. The spots have spread a bit but basically are in the same spots. Cortisone cream helps for a time as does high quality lotions or salves but within a few hours it comes back. I am unable to open my jaw more than two fingers widths. This has only been for a couple days. I am sure it is related to stress. I'm probably grinding my teeth at night. But what can I do about while staying home? Quote

No idea on the second. That sounds kind of severe, to me, for just clenching. Maybe there are some PT videos on YouTube that would help? If I take a Benadryl I will sleep for about 36 hours. Which hey might relax my jaw 😂 but isn't really practical. And it has been going on for so long and is confined to two spots. I can't imagine it's allergies. I have experienced full body hive reactions and this is just not at all like that. Quote

You can massage the muscles on your head/scalp and around your jaw. If you can go out, a chiro could help. Calcium and magnesium. Bath in epsom salts. Your doctor could call you in a muscle relaxer. Yup, muscle relaxer. Or, in a pinch, booze and sleep. Quote
Terabith Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I would see if you could do a telemedicine visit to get a muscle relaxer. It makes a pretty amazing immediate difference. Quote
iamonlyone Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 As for the itchy spots, it could maybe be a couple hives. One of our daughters had a few spots for years, they would fade and then start bothering her again. The doctors tried antifungal, hydrocortisone (helped a bit, but didn't resolve). She finally had a biopsy of one and they said urticaris (hives) with an unknown cause. The dr. suggested she take Zyrtec, which does seem to help, although if she forgets to take allergy medicine, they seem to pop up again. This isn't a particularly good source, but it describes my daughter's condition pretty well: https://www.verywellhealth.com/treating-urticaria-83240 Quote
