DawnM Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 UGH. My dad asked me to find a moving company for 30 small U-haul boxes, 4-5 larger TV type boxes, and 2 items of furniture (a large wood desk and a recliner). That's all he is bringing. And his car. He wants to come out the end of May/early June. He will fly as he can't make that trip by car anymore. Is there a company that will do both or do I need to do 2 separate companies? Any recommendations for either service? He is moving from the Phoenix, AZ area to the Charlotte, NC area. Thanks. 1 Quote
Lanny Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 Your dad isn't bringing a large volume/weight and a traditional moving van company would charge him an arm and a leg. That said, when dear friends moved from the Metro NYC area to DFW many years ago, his company paid to ship one (1) of their cars with their stuff in a moving van. Note that I wrote his company paid for it... 🙂 I have read here on WTM, in various threads, about "Pods" and/or similar things. I think possibly the U-Haul company, which is based in/near Phoenix operates one of those services. Also, I think the J.B. Hunt trucking company, based in Arkansas, has a service like that. Check with them next week, to see if they can do that for your dad. Wonderful that he's moving to your area! 1 Quote
DawnM Posted April 5, 2020 Author Posted April 5, 2020 Thanks. I talked about PODS in an earlier thread. The problem is, he will need someone to help him load and organize it and strap it down. He is no longer able to do all that on his own. So, anything self loading will be difficult. Quote

Check with some of the pod companies as I have seen some advertising that you can add loading help. I don’t remember that cost but it wasn’t like a shocking price. I kind of remember it being very reasonable. Quote
