We just bought a 6’x8’ storage shed from Home Depot and had it delivered and put nesting boxes in it,  but I have 15 chickens so that might be overkill for you.

Oh that would have lots if we could.  But in our town we can only have 6.

We did the storage shed thing too. It worked really well. We did one of those rubbermade type sheds. It was only ever meant to go for 2 years because we knew we'd move, but it would easily have lasted longer. I would probably modify it a bit, but it worked. We did it because we lived somewhere very cold and they couldn't go out a lot of the year.

In order to get a really good chicken coop, you have to spend a fair amount of money. There are a lot of cheap ones you can buy, but most are pretty flimsy and/or small. We built a Garden Coop (you've probably seen plans online) and really love it, but it did take a good amount of work. For someone who really wanted a "nice" coop and didn't want to DIY it, I'd probably recommend the Eglu. Or looking on craigslist for used ones that people have made that look solid.

We can only have 4 chickens in our city. So if you ask me, that's how many I'll tell you we have. 😉
