Does anyone know of a platform similar to private Facebook groups in which you could do live video that will also record and stay there after you are finished?  I have Facebook, but some of the people I want to be able to access these don't have it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, you can make YouTube videos private.

I think you can for Vimeo too, but it's been so long since I watched anything there I'm not even sure it's still in business.

You can also do a Facebook live in a group and then save the Facebook live, upload it to Youtube as a private video, and link it back to the group for future reference.

facebook compresses the videos, and the quality is not good. I would not recommend this route.

It depends on what you want. I've done this. The video is not as high quality as if you recorded it yourself, but it's perfectly fine for conveying information or a conversation. It's not going to look like a professional Youtuber, but it's not glitchy or shockingly bad. It's just not as nice and HD. It just depends on what you want out of the video. If live answering questions is a part of the deal, then FB and Zoom are your best bets and they both compress and if the FB group already exists, then it's massively easier. If the goal is to create a nice, quality, enduring video for a group, then linking it to the FB group as a private youtube video is definitely a better option.

Thanks for the ideas! I am considering offering videos to my homeschool support group doing an ACT/SAT math question each day.

I'm doing you tube for mine. One thing that I found was that "private" means you have to list the emails when you upload the video, *and* you have to email the link (via YT) to the person. However, "unlisted" allows you to upload a video, it does NOT show in any search, on your channel, etc., BUT you can then copy/paste the video link and pass that around. So depending how many emails you want to deal with, you can choose either way. (I'm doing mine as unlisted).

Hope that helps!
