klmama Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I need some new ideas. What are you snacking on at your house? Quote
Selkie Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I've been on a citrus kick lately. We've got a big bowl on the counter full of different kinds of oranges and tangerines, and I've been eating several a day. 4 Quote
teachermom2834 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Um...wine and cookie dough. I feel like that isn’t what you were looking for. 3 1 2 Quote
Loowit Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Mini Easter candy (Starburst, Snickers, etc.). We are playing D&D as a family right now and this is our fun candy for it. This weekend I made a rhubarb/peach crisp that was tasty and DH ordered some yummy cupcakes for date night at home on Friday from a local bakery to try to help local businesses. Tomorrow I need to do better... 1 Quote
alisoncooks Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Caramel Cadbury eggs. They're supposed to be for the kids' Easter baskets but I keep sneaking them. 1 1 Quote
Ali in OR Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Two more weeks of Lent and 2 of us have given up sweets, so that's keeping us in check somewhat. So this may descend to chaos in a couple of weeks, but for now: goldfish crackers granola bars pretzels (goldfish or the Rold Gold honey twists) popcorn apples grapes tortilla chips dry cereal Edited March 30, 2020 by Ali in OR Quote
Farrar Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I've been trying to hold off on another grocery trip. I'm at two weeks. Salty things turned out to be the first thing to completely disappear from the house. I really, really, really wish the store had had some popcorn. It was entirely cleared. Thinking about venturing out tomorrow or Tuesday. 1 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Fresh oranges from my little tree. Cadbury eggs. Steeped ginger (supposed to be good for beefing up your immune system; plus it reduces my GERD reflux considerably) Licorice root tea (also supposed to be good for beefing up your immune system) Cinzano because I am out of my favorite wine and couldn't find it the last time I shopped. It's not important enough to risk another foray. I am sheltering in place. 2 Quote
MercyA Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Me? Babybel cheese. Pretzels Crisps. Popcorn and kettle corn. And, at the moment, vodka + grapefruit juice. 🍹 1 Quote
Corraleno Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Normally that would be popcorn, nuts, Luna lemon bars, and lots of fruit, but this morning DD got fed up with healthy snacks and had a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts delivered. 😆 1 Quote
Arcadia Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Nutty & Fruity Organic Jackfruit https://beefruityandnutty.com/products/jackfruit (ETA: I bought from Costco and the ingredient list is only organic jackfruit and no preservatives, see photo) Kirkland organic dried mangos https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-organic-dried-mangoes%2C-2.5-lbs.product.100438715.html Edited March 30, 2020 by Arcadia 1 Quote
Tina Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Ice cream sandwiches, Cheetos, and banana bread. I also have my hidden stash of dark chocolate bars with orange bits. Dh doesn't like those. 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 At the moment, I am eating rosemary and olive oil triscuits and clementines. This is week 5 of being home bound for me. The chocolate was gone week 1. 2 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I made lemon bars yesterday. I have two Meyer lemons left. Suggestions? Quote
Eos Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 (edited) Favorite thread ever. My ds brought a friend home from college thinking they were going to be able to go back, silly kids. So now I have 2 hungry young people plowing through the snacks. Smoothies, crackers n cheese, cereal, apples and pb, omelettes, luna bars, popcorn (sorry, Farrar,) toast, cadbury eggs - you know, anything that isn't nailed down. Edited March 30, 2020 by Harpymom Quote
appyonthebeach Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I made a batch of carrot mini muffins and a batch of mini chocolate chip muffins, so dh and ds have been eating those. I also made a batch of fig bars a few days ago that dh finished. Can you tell I like to bake when I'm bored? lol I've been trying to keep to grapes and cuties for myself. Quote
Laura Corin Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Leftover birthday carrot cake at present After that's gone: raw veg, unsalted nuts, unsweetened yoghurt, berries, low-fat cheese. 1 Quote
May Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Hummus, carrots, apples with peanut butter. We are empty nesters so we usually keep healthy snacks in the house. Quote
Carrie12345 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Everything imaginable. I knew it was a lot, but I didn’t realize just how much until just now. The thing I’ve wanted most has been buffalo chicken dip. The only reason that’s only been in (relatively) moderate frequency is because it’s been difficult to acquire cheap tortilla chips. Brand name prices are crazy! I’m an equal opportunity snacker, which seems like it should mean I’ll take salty or sweet, but usually it just means I want both! I have a pick-up order to get this morning, and I’m hoping it will get us through April, other than some extra gas station milk if possible. The order has more snack stuff in it than I normally buy in 6 months or more. I really need some warm, non-rainy weather so I can work this off in the yard!!! 1 Quote
Soror Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Lots of clementine oranges. Homemade peanut butter cups 1 Quote
SamanthaCarter Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 The kids have been getting snacks from the free lunches at the bus. I buy a couple of bags of chips at the store when I go get curbside pickup. If they want anything else, they need to make brownies or banana cake of something. I have a tendency to snack on leftovers. Quote
ThisIsTheDay Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Might not be what everyone here wants to hear, but as someone who has never "dieted" before, last spring I started a new "diet," which includes NO SNACKING. None, nada, zip. (The Obesity Diet Code, although I've never been obese.) I stuck to it and lost 25 pounds. My goal was 20, so it's worked. I'm especially glad for it now, because I know I'd be snacking a LOT. That chocolate and wine sounds especially good! 2 Quote
Familia Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 For myself, I keep a huge bowl of cherry tomatoes on the counter to offer a quick bite when I am just eating for nerves. When that doesn’t work, the Doritos come out. Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I am diabetic and need to keep my snacking low carb. Spicy pimento cheese with veggies, Trader Joe's chili lime almonds (in small quantities), blueberries, clementines, dill pickles, good cheese (esp. soft, rich ones like havarti or brie), veggies with homemade ranch or bleu cheese dressing, olives, and bacon. My kids like most of these things and add others like: popcorn, chips and salsa or guac, apples with pb or Justin's hazelnut spread, applesauce, cheese toast, yogurt, buttered toast (I've been baking bread!), homemade cookies or pie, ants on a log, pretzels, pistachios, cheese and crackers, veggies with hummus, and occasionally a Lara bar. 1 Quote
lynn Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Almonds, power up, apples, cuties, my daughter...poptarts, English muffins with cream cheese, cheese and crackers Quote
stephanier.1765 Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 I try to stick to fruit, usually apples or grapes, but my granddaughter got me hooked on Veggie Straws. To preempt my binge tendencies, I've resorted to buying them in single serving sizes of a 100 calories a package. Quote
mom2scouts Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Everything. I'm a stress eater and it's usually not terribly healthy. Salt and vinegar chips, bananas, popcorn, brownies, candy, yogurt, tortilla chips,... Quote
*Jessica* Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Homemade caramel popcorn mostly. My keto diet went right out the window when my anxiety levels crept up. 1 Quote
school17777 Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 When I make lunch, I try to cut up fruit and veggies on a plate for everyone to snack on so they don’t go bad. For some reason, people will eat fruit and veggies if I prepare them, but they won’t do it themselves. Unfortunately, that is not stopping us from also eating junk food. Quote

Several members of my family are the same way. I think I need to make preparing veggie trays someone's daily responsibility so they can learn how to do it! 1 Quote
meena Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 (edited) Cocoa/peanut butter/oatmeal no-bake cookies. I’ve already made two batches in the past two weeks and will probably make another tomorrow. I hadn’t made or eaten them for a few years, but once all this started I’ve had mad cravings for them Edited March 31, 2020 by meena Quote
KungFuPanda Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 Mostly apples, cookies, and popcorn. I buy the kernels for the air popper and they seem to have that even when the microwave popcorn is gone. I do a lot of smoothies too. Quote
klmama Posted March 31, 2020 Author Posted March 31, 2020 Thank you all for sharing! Now, if we could just eat all these great treats and not gain weight... but I think that's a topic for another thread. 1 Quote
