mlktwins
...a boxed Betty Crocker cheesy scalloped potatoes that expired in 2015 😁😬? We found it in the great pantry clean out this month and DH wants to give it a try tonight. I don't want to waste butter and milk if it isn’t going to be good LOL. Pen
Yup. Unless something seems actually “off”.
mlktwins
Ok...both the potatoes and seasoning packet smell fine. Giving it a try 😊. What about a Jiffy and a Kruestaz corn bread mix expiring 2014? Dried brown rice still in bag expiring 2018? I think we are good on everything else. ThisIsTheDay
I don't know that there would be anything wrong with it, but the fact that it is 5 years old would be old enough for me to throw away. Unless I totally needed it to go with dinner tonight, and in the current situation, then I would make it. So my answer is maybe!
klmama
I definitely would not eat the potatoes or the corn bread mix. I might eat the brown rice.
Shoeless
I would eat the rice and pass on all the other things.
prairiewindmomma
No on the corn bread mixes. They will be rancid. Yes on the brown rice.
mlktwins
Well...the potatoes tasted great. Not like they expired in 2015 😁. I will slip the corn bread mixes in the trash before hubby sees 🤫🤫🤫! Everything else we have is good. Some canned goods that expired in 2019 is our oldest at this point. Eating them first.
TrixieB
I would smell the brown rice before cooking to see if it's rancid.
