easypeasy Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 About the rest of the semester? i just realized that I had assumed dds school was remaining off-campus the rest of the semester, but dd confirmed today that they haven't said anything either way. Every other university I am connected with online - and every other university any of my kids' friends attend - have decided to remain off-campus the remainder of the semester. Is dd's the only weird one? (her professors seem to be planning on staying online all semester. I am certainly not sending her back anytime soon!!) 1 Quote
MamaSprout Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 We decided three days ago and as far as I know are last in our conference to do so. 1 Quote
Selkie Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 My kids' university made the decision last week. The only thing still up in the air is when students can go back to move their belongings out of the dorms. They're saying they will let everyone know the plan for that in mid-April. My boys brought most of their important items home with them, so they're in no hurry to go back. 1 Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 DD's was saying they would go online until the 7th and would leave minimal campus facilities open until last week, when they decided to close it all for the rest of the semester. 1 Quote
kiana Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 A few colleges are still saying they're going to be back. Very few of their instructors believe them and (in my academics facebook group) we are ALL planning not only to be online for the rest of the semester but summer as well. We are still sticking our fingers in our ears and going LA LA LA LA LA with respect to the possibility of Fall ALSO being online. 2 Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 DD’s summer field course hasn’t been cancelled yet, but the school is an area that has been heavy hit, so it seems likely that it is more that the faculty are still trying to figure out this Spring and haven’t thought that far ahead yet. Quote
catz Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 My son's announced at least a week ago. I think it's very optimistic to think otherwise. Quote

I am trying not to think about it. It makes me so sad. One local university already announced summer classes will be online only. I am just waiting for dd's summer research program to cancel. They've already sent a warning email about it. 😞 1 Quote
easypeasy Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 DDs college finally made the call yesterday evening. No word on the deadline to get her stuff. Some of her friends are at the dorms still, so will most likely try and pay one of them to pack up her stuff and either put it in storage or take it to their house (they live closer to us than the university itself).
