Janeway
I am trying so hard to reach my 15 yr old. I feel like I am getting no where. His friends all use ACE so he says he wants me to just order that stuff. I would like to find movies and TV shows and even streaming channels that can teach him something. I am trying to do world history right now and not getting far. I have an old Teaching Textbooks World History course for high school, but it is the original one. I think I heard there is a newer one that is better. I just want to get his attention and have him willingly watch a show or whatever else, learn something! happypamama
15yo are hard. They have Opinions! Honestly, if you're fighting with him about what you want him to do vs. what he is requesting to do, I would probably just go with what he wants to do. We all have ideals and ways we want to see it done, but getting it done, and having a good relationship with your son, are probably more important than ideal. Perhaps you could make some of the shows/movies as family supplements in the evening or something.
klmama
What about The Great Courses Plus? It's $30 every three months after a 2-week free trial. There are many courses available. You can watch individual lectures from different series, if you want to pick and choose rather than watch full series.
klmama
You might also take a look at Modern States classes - they are free. The site is intended as review before taking CLEP tests, but it might also be a decent introduction to the material for your ds. With either Modern States or Great Courses Plus, you'd want to have some sort of output for him, so it's not all passive learning.
