Murphy101 Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) Today we plan to play The Catholic Game and live stream mass. I might reconsider letting my kids go to their brother’s apartment for a few hours. It feels so wrong to say no. Another son called last night and was asking if he could visit. I feel like a horrible human saying he probably shouldn’t risk it given that he already risks so much working groceries. Idk This is so damn hard. And my jackass mil has been eating out twice a day every day and told him she was going to drive to his town to spend the day with him. I was so pissed and son was all it’ll be fine mom. Dh had super high blood sugar yesterday despite not eating anything all day. Likely stress spike. For the first time literally ever it climbed to over 300 before it started to come down. despite all that I spelt well ETA: I have an alarm on my phone to post here each day. So I rolled over and posted. And it was a grammar mess. And spelt might have had a chance is it wasn’t supposed to say “slept”. 😆 Now I’m having my first cup of coffee. historically accurate Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Today is my "Shut off the computer and Not listen to the news" day. My goals for today are to finish a somewhat coherent school/chore list for kids and me (and add DH's meetings times into it so we know when to be somewhat quiet). Going to make my make-ahead breakfasts since I was able to find an 18 pack of eggs on Thursday. Do the laundry. Read a book. I slept well last night, but I am still dragging into this morning. I don't know why I'm having a hard time finding motivation this morning. I will be signing off after this post and balancing checkbook. See y'all tomorrow. 3 Quote
.... Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 It's my son's 5th birthday, so I am going to bake him a cake and have him open presents. Party City is closed, so I can't buy him balloons. ☹️ I need to do lesson plans for next week. I'm going to add more PE. All of our new curriculum has been wonderful. The kids really like Beautiful Feet and Apologia Marine Biology. Like I said in another thread, I'm so glad that I bought the entire literature package instead of using the library - like I usually do. Our libraries are closed, so we would've been out of luck. At least we are able to get a lot of school work done. I am still upset about the gym closing....yes, yes, I know they have to close the gyms. But, after a week of no gym + our diet was really horrible last week because everyone made a run on the grocery stores (and there was limited groceries and absolutely no meat), I'm having out of control diabetic problems. My right foot is swollen and a couple of days ago, I couldn't feel my middle toes on my left foot and I kept having this stupid electric shock sensation in my foot every second. I was also falling asleep everywhere. UGH! Left foot is doing better this morning, but my right foot is so swollen. I am going to try to get outside and get more exercise this week, but now I can barely walk on my foot. Just so frustrated.... And they finally closed down our churches. I knew it was coming. So, no church today. 2 1 Quote
RootAnn Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) Mass at home. Made Quiver's cinnamon rolls for the kids but didn't double the recipe like I usually do. (Who can be unhappy with those in your tummy?) Attached a picture of what they left behind. Going to try to edit DD's YouTube video, do some taxes, and take a nap. MEmama Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Vacuuming, laundry, maybe creating a flexible dinner plan for the week Going out in public—gasp. We need a few things from Lowe’s that just can’t wait (plumbing related). Will look for spinach and pea seeds while there. Feeling a little nervous Going for a run Joining a CSA to support our local farms 2 Quote
Murphy101 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 A close friend’s daughter was in the class of a prof who is in the hospital with Covid. They were notified yesterday. So their family is in mandatory quarantine for 14 days from when she had contact with him. My son’s (not one that lives here) boss’ wife is in the hospital Covid positive. 2 Quote
Jenny in Florida Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 After my financial bingeing yesterday, I have been trying to focus on setting up/making use of those new items, including hooking up the new monitor. After another extra-long walk with the dog this morning, I watched the first-ever live stream of the service from a tiny, progressive church I've been following for a few years. I am currently without a home church, so I would love it if they would keep up the live streams. (They are in another state, so attending in person is not an option.) I finally got around to re-potting some of the succulents I can't resist buying, which I did while letting the dog wander and explore the yard on her new tie-out. I chatted a bit with my daughter via text. She's in NYC and is feeling pretty down about the increased restrictions in her area. I watched the live stream of A Midsummer Night's Dream from the American Shakespeare Center while I ate lunch and searched for the two crochet patterns I am missing to finish my square-of-the-month throw from 2018. Only thing left on my agenda today is to finish one project for work that I had wanted to get done on Friday evening so that it will be ready for my co-worker when he starts work tomorrow morning. Then it will probably be another walk with the dog and maybe another snack and finding something to watch while I crochet. I plan to go to the office to work tomorrow. My son has a rehearsal with a few members of his theatre group planned to happen here during the afternoon, and Friday pretty much proved that I cannot work while they are here. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure the office is next thing to empty these days and, as I pointed out to my husband, going there means I will drive in my personal vehicle, walk into a professionally cleaned and nearly empty building, spend the day as the only person in a space intended for four of us, use professionally cleaned and sanitized restrooms, maybe take a walk in the park at lunch, then get back in my personal vehicle and drive home. I'm probably more effectively socially distanced by going across town to the office than I would be staying home. Our CEO is doing an all-hands virtual meeting tomorrow morning (which he has taken pains to promise us is NOT bad news), so we'll see if anything changes after that regarding access to the building. If not, I will probably be there again on Friday, because I have a doctor appointment nearby. 1 Quote
math teacher Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Dh and I went riding around earlier. It's one of the things I really enjoy and only costs gas. I decided we needed dessert, so poppy seed bread is almost done. Then I will put the meatloaf in the oven. 2 Quote
JustEm Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I've spent today reading, hanging outside around the fire pit, and just relaxing. Dh's best friend came over today to enjoy the fire with us and drink a beer with us from 6 ft away. He's really the only person we'd invite over because for his mental health he needs to be around people. But he's been stuck working at home for close to 2 weeks and his son, the only person who lives with him, basically stays in his room all day. It was perfect timing because now there is a stay at home order so he won't be seeing people in person for a while. 1 Quote
Meriwether Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I spent $150 on mats last week and rearranged the school room. I really debated whether or not to do it, but I am glad now that I did. Dh and the kids who compete spent an hour sparring each yesterday and today. Everyone is happier. The exercise makes a difference. And although my kids get along pretty well the majority of the time, I think getting to really whack each other with combat sticks or kick each other in the head helps, too. 😂😂 10 Quote
Ali in OR Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Today was a day of connecting. We tried doing an online Sunday School with a few technical glitches, but I got to see some of our church family that way. One has been tested for Covid-19 and was coughing a lot, but doing okay overall. Takes 7 days for her to get test results. Then a Zoom book group meet-up, then a phone call with my dad. Had a walk with dd, made my baked oatmeal for the week, and I'm trying a no-knead Dutch oven bread that's been rising all day. No hobby time yet today. 1 Quote
purpleowl Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 We listened to the live streams (audio only) that our pastor did this morning and this evening. It was heartening, both in content and in that I could see that others were also streaming it at the same time. It gave a feeling of connection with others in our local church body. ❤️ We also played some games. That's been happening every day, but a bunch today. 2 Quote

I’ve been gluten indulging and paying for it so bad. I’ve got to stop. 1 Quote
Murphy101 Posted March 23, 2020 Author Posted March 23, 2020 (edited) Been an okay day. Seems that way after a glass of wine anyways. We are watching Blast from the Past and then playing what we hopefully be our final night of phase 10. You know you have a large family when it takes 3 nights to finish playing phase 10. SounderChick Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Kind of a quiet day. Virtual church this morning. Some chores nothing big. Than a virtual movie night with friends using Google Hangouts. 1 Quote

Everyone over 3 yrs old liked it here. Even though I only one won one hand, it was the most Covid appropriate. LOL My evening is going downhill. I don’t know if it’s another panic attack or if I’m sick or what. Feel like crap. Shaky headache chest pain stomach cramps. But I just started the Curse so half that could be pms related. 1 Quote

While it’s obviously not going to cure anything might be a good home workout for a day when you can’t get out to exercise. Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 So the chest freezer got a temporary fix which lasted around ten minutes before the compressor died once and for all I have been madly rearranging the house freezer, and started making jam with 4kg of berries. I have two frozen meals thawed one which we will eat tonight and one I’ll drop to my sis. Also made a big banana smoothie with the frozen bananas. What’s left now is dog meat and still partly frozen so should be ok. No stores anywhere have freezers but we are hopefully getting a second hand one tonight. lots of enquirers about dds chickens I wish we’d done another batch now especially of the egg layers. I could well as many Laying hens as we have easily. 1 Quote
